Description So, 40 blades, about 90 lines and hours and hours later, my fingers are numb, my brain is in meltdown and I smell like paint. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I did another halftone.

The paint ain't even dry yet, but I think I'm satisfied with the result. A little disappointed in the thinnest lines in the face, but other than that it looks pretty good.

Gonna go get some more canvases in a second to make a few more, see if I can improve it a little. It's 60x80 cm, my favourite size. Believe me when I say I will _never_ do another line-halftone again. It's no fun, it hurts like hell and it's a bitch to paint. Squares are the future (and square-halftones look way more awesome too).

The picture I used was 'Eye stock' by Create-Stock: [link]

Hope you like it.

Then your picture is too dark. If its too dark, try making it a negative. I.e., create a negative, replace the black lines by white lines and vice versa for the white lines. Don't know if its a common technique.. I found out and found it rather useful.

Light pictures are easiest to make halftones from, but I prefer dark pictures.

It has been done before, multiple times. As a matter of fact, this one was supposed to be a two color halftone. But I was totally done with it after the black layer so I left it like this.

Multi-colour halftone? Wow, that sounds pretty revolutionary! I can't recall ever having seen such a thing so far!

Even offtopic: eentweetien, dat zit toch vlakbij Arnhem CS?

That's just the one 90 degrees angle halftone right? And what did you cut this on to I tried to do it on paper and it sorta stretched and wont sit right =/

I used a giant sheet of plastic, 100cmx80cm on size, or something like that. Got loads of that stuff. Works great, but when you've got a line-halftone like this one, it won't hold long.

Mine was ruined after the first spray, also due to a minor fuckup by me. But oh well, the first attempt was decent enough, as depicted above.

Long story short: never use paper, only to wipe your ass.

Words can't describe the amount of shit I went through to get this finished. I started this, thinking 'oh boy, I bet this is so much easier than square-halftones'. After an hour I realized I was SO wrong. I'll NEVER do such a halftone again. Never.

That said; thanks for the (buttload of) favs! Very much appreciated!

Thanks! When you look at the original picture, you'll see that the nose is barely visible there either.
