Description
To take a short break from school, I created a human design for the Legend of Korra character Vaatu. I tried to keep true to his original color scheme and design.
The black smoke on his arms can solidify and extend, serving as his "tentacles".
I'm also using this piece in my AP Art Portfolio ssshh.

I don't mind at all. This was actually a sketch done on some watercolor paper with 2H and HB pencils. It was colored in Photoshop Elements. All you have to do is open up some new layers on top of it, and put all of them into the "Overlay" blend mode, so it keeps the texture of the paper. Simple stuff. c:

Holy cow! This is one of the best Vaatu depictions I have ever seen!! I like how he looks sort of diseased, like how he can infect spirits with his hate. He also looks incredibly powerful, like an ancient god of sorts. The smoke radiating from him was a brilliant way to incorporate his tentacles and also ties well into the idea of him being darkness incarnate, like he emits it. I am very impressed.
