It's Eric, before you get mad at me XDHad some traditional drawing time when the weather was less computer friendly.
I felt like drawing a mermaid and since I lack mermaid characters myself it ended up a more adult-looking version of Ariel (Disney's little mermaid).
And I thought it could be like an alternate story version, if Ursula had not been there or if Ariel had just decided not to trust her. Ariel did have a plan on getting Eric's attention in the movie. What if that had succeeded and it would could have been a movie about how they had a secret relationship for many years? Trying to figure out how to make it work or how they could be together...
I don't know! I was just musing around while drawing this very unrelated picture! XD

I think Saban took that angle of the secret relationship when they distributed the anime version of the Little Mermaid series (the one with a blonde mermaid heroine named Marina and her seahorse pal whose name I forget).

I love the scales on her tail. This is a beautiful piece. I think that the plot would be more interesting if Ariel had decided not to trust Ursula.

It feels like your idea/thought for this side story has a bit more "adult" feel to it. Hiding their releationship and trying to make it work even though they are of different speices.

Okay, now that I'm on my laptop, I can leave a REAL comment:
Those roses sinking down to her are so romantic and I love how you can tell they are coming from Eric aboard the ship. I love the locket, a nice little gift for a girl who doesn't want others to know about her romantic liaison with a man of a different culture. Her hair is beautiful and I love how it is moving in the water's currents.
This is all around beautiful, actually.
