Description After doing two entries for the "Ancient Egypt" contest hosted by feline-icity [link] I decided to just keep going with the theme.

Using a stock photo as base/reference this was painted in photoshop 6 with a wacom tablet.

Hatshepsut (or Hatchepsut)meaning Foremost of Noble Ladies, was the fifth pharaoh of the eighteenth dynasty of Ancient Egypt. She is generally regarded by Egyptologists as one of the most successful pharaohs, reigning longer than any other woman of an indigenous Egyptian dynasty.
Although poor records of her reign are documented in diverse ancient sources, Hatshepsut was described by early modern scholars as only having served as a co-regent from about 1479 to 1458 B.C., during years seven to twenty-one of the reign previously identified as that of Thutmose III. Today it is generally recognized that Hatshepsut assumed the position of pharaoh and the length of her reign usually is given as twenty-two years, since she was assigned a reign of twenty-one years and nine months by the third-century B.C. historian, Manetho, who had access to many records that now are lost. Her death is known to have occurred in 1458 B.C., which implies that she became pharaoh circa 1479 B.C.

She wanted to rule like a male, not to be outdone by the previous male pharaohs. She demanded to be called king, and his majesty.

This is truly magnificent. Based on the limited records there are about her. I think its at least clear from records that were found that she was an excellent ruler as well as rather noble person who sought peace and joy from art, rather then war or conquest like her nephew Tut-mosses III. Same she died in her prime. I think she was greatly loved by the people. She probably had an affect on the kingdom, more so then Obama has right now.

This is very good. I like how you've given her a more African look than ancient Egyptians are usually given in art.

You know the sad thing is, people never look at the paintings on Egypt's walls. If they looked they would see there were a lot of dark skinned rulers and civilians.
