Boy, the Gundam muse is high. (I've been doing GunPla shit for weeks, maaaaan.)

-- Inspiration --

Started off with RahXephon I guess, then I started listening to a ton of soundtracks/vocal themes from Gundam which made me return into the wonderful world of Gundam. GunPla is another factor considering that I plan to make a custom out of Amazing Exia into the Repair IV. (YO WE GETTING A NEW SEASON.)

--- Process ---

Well, what ya see Nikolai wearing is a Mobile Trace Suit, but an actual uniform and shiet, unlike the spandex/tights/tar thing every fighter wore in G Gundam.

Used Ryu Hayabasa's standard outfit as the base and just turned the skin into a black color, gave it a subtle normal map. (Gonna make an actual normal map for the arms when I get the chance/figure out what the hell I'mma have.) Slapped my boi's head onto the model and made a quick neck seal thing. Oh, also added a reflection map to the entire suit, to mimic the Mobile Fighter Suit's sheen.

Made a gun for Nikolai to use in the cockpit as a control stick for the GN Sword Kai, cause ya know, Repair IV's main armament is basically that. (Got ya rifle mode, sword mode and a beam mode. Eventually gonna added a single Beam saber to attach on the left hip.

THen realized that how the hell is the Trace System gonna track Nikolai's head movements? Add a headset piece. Hell yeah. And it looks like Exia's cheek vents.

At the same time, I noticed that his deltoids look too narrow, so I added some padding on top of it. Unfortunately, ya can't see it for jack in the photo.

Oh, also had to make the entire Mobile Trace System equipment, t'was easy as hell after I realized I shouldn't have to add a bunch of detail. When compared to the original design from G Gundam, Exia's MTS is a lot more cleaner and sleek, also has a lot of glowly parts. THe last part I have to do is add the HUD/UI for the sphere projection. Dunno what to make honestly so just gotta wait until I think of somethin'.

What about Exia?

I just got that model from some website that I was lead from here. It's the Amazing Exia, but been workin' on a Custom GunPla of the Amazing Exia, makin' it into the Repair IV. (ANd then Bandai released an official photo of the Repair IV yesterday.) But yeah, 'tis an MMD file and thank gawd somebody made an import plug-in for Blender. MMD has all the good shit, I swear.

I removed that absurdly large booster pack and the dumb sword that it had too. Gave Exia the usual metal and scratches normal maps and she was pretty much ready. (For front shots.) (( ALso, did you know Exia is a girl? Watch the first opening of 00 Gundam and pay real close attention to the scene with Setsuna and the girl bursting into light.)) When I made the render for this photo, came to my attention that ya can see the empty space where the GN Drive was supposed to be place. Model didn't come with one since it had the big ass booster instead. Made one myself and spent way too much time adding detail. Least I could make somethin' original on this thing. Later on added a few bones here and there to make this robot's movements a bit more realistic.

Posed the two fellas and did a ton of renders cause unnoticeable hiccups slipped past my eyes. ALso cause Exia's fingers are hard edged instead of round and everything has to align properly or else it'll look funky. Trust me.

With the final shots made, slapped the two in one photo, played around with a background effect, zoom blur added to Exia and GN Particles, then I made Nikolai's eyes glow, finally added the usual Border, text and signature.

Done.

(Please note, these are simply ideas I had created from the past few weeks I was sick, these are the finalized concepts I wanna have throughout the epilogue of our hero, Nikolai. This is just the beginning of course, so more to come later one I suppose.)

Nikolai wants to visit the previous Universe and meet his preincarnation, the original Solo Kasshu.
Desta and Tanaka create a Universe that's identical to the previously obliterated one, and so our Hero, Wife and dearly beloved Friend along with the two creators of life travel into the rebuilt Cosmic Era Universe to experience a more wartorn and chaotic world.
After some roaming around the streets, they learn that the armed group Solo takes place has been officially labeled as Terrorists due to a large chain of bombings throughout Earth and the PLANT space colonies. It was then revealed by Desta that the events that lead up after this is the cause that created the monstrous personality that was Elses. So, Nikolai declared that he and crew must place all their efforts into preventing the dark path.
In a span of a month, Nikolai was able to find the true culprits at hand and was able to declare the PLANT Supreme Council of Celestial Being's innocence. Unfortunately, PLANT's ZAFT forces had already prepared a large scale battle against Celestial Being, using a terrifyingly powerful missile that in the original Universe of CE, destroyed Celestial Being's Gundams and half of its Battleship. Although, Desta had intervened and prevented their deaths from occuring, instead immobilizing all the fleets in a unbelievable amount of time.
With that, Solo Kasshu and the entire Celestial Being crew had their label as Terrorists removed. Allowing our Hero, Nikolai to finally introduce himself to this Universe's Hero. Of course, Solo and his team were confused about this group of people and that the fact that the two both share the same surname.
In time, Nikolai, Desta and Tanaka explained their existence and clarified all confusion the Celestial Being Team and the Chairwoman had. Eventually, Solo grew a liking to Nikolai and deemed him worthy as a friend.
A tour was given to Nikolai and crew around the PLANT colony but unfortunately were interrupted by a hoard of pirates armed to the teeth with stolen ZAFT Mobile Suits. Solo sprung into action and ordered his team to prepare to sortie, but Nikolai wanted to handle the action himself. Solo felt that Nikolai was familiar with piloting, so he allowed him to use the Exia Repair IV along with its experimental Mobile Trace System, a new form of controlling a MS through movements of the user.
So, after absorbing in Exia's hidden AI which in reality is a spirit of some form. Nikolai and Exia soar into battle, wiping out all the threats within less than a half hour, all thanks to Nikolai's immense skill of swordsmanship and marksman, not to mention his combat level is quite beyond that of the average soldier. Solo then deemed that Nikolai should be the new Meister of the Gundam Exia Repair IV, along with being CB's guinea pig for this new piloting System.
(Another note to confused new people reading this: I originally began my whole story many moons ago as a Gundam crossover between 00 and Seed/Destiny/Astray. It grew too chaotic and was told I should just start over in a new direction. I did so through a reboot. Somewhere between last year, I then eventually brought back the original story by having it be erased and have Solo Kasshu or Elses, create a new universe where our Hero Nikolai would be born into as Elses' reincarnation. Past few weeks, been quickly rewriting that original crossover story now that I'm more knowledgeable of both series. When the time comes to actually write the whole story of Nikolai's life, I'll move on to the original story that is the Gundam crossover thing.)

Took a bit of tweaking here and there to get this thought to an actual photo. Really like it though, was able to showcase the Mobile Trace System's function through this photo. Real please overall. Also love the hell out of the Exia model, compared to my younger days where I had to manually give the Gundam models bones and give them weights, this model is just a wonderful thing to pose around. Sure, it was a bit simple but I was able to quickly able to add more detail to it.

Also it is rich with surface detail, shame that the textures are so small.
