This one, I hate so much right now. I like how it looks in this picture, but after that, I just... bleh. Here's the third WIP, if you're interested: (I've worked on it more since, btw, and it's a little too dark in the image. Also, I seem to have lost the second WIP. ) [link] . I hate the background. And now the horses looks like crap too, especially the mare - it's just too realistic, too flat, too boring. Call me stupid if you will...

Velour paper is kinda cool, kinda annoying, lol. My problem is that it is so fragile, I mean, how in the world do you ship it if you wish to sell it? So I haven't used it for a while. But it's real fun! People do ship it though, so there must be a way. Lots of fixative? I should really try that... *scared of fixative*

but please don't give up on this! The bg is really, REALLY nice... those yellow meadow flowers!
I think the mare looks amazing. I can tell you're wanting to try something different, though. And I know how frustrating it is when you're just no happy with something no matter how many people tell you it looks great. I don't know what to suggest though... lol.

Yes I heard the pastel doesn't exactly 'stick' to the velour paper, like if you turn it upside down the dust falls off? scary! I didn't know that so I have absolutely NO idea how you'd ship it. Something to think about, since really I want to be doing some pieces to sell if I get some. Hmm...

Ah, yes. Everyone loves it, and that almost makes me feel like a bad person. Like everyone thinks I'm crazy for wasting my talent or someting, but... what's with that? I wanna draw, but not just what they want me to draw... and now I'm being hostile towards them, oops, they mean well, I know. I feel though, the only reason I'd finish this is because I feel like I'm wasting very expensive velour paper. XD Thanks, by the way.

Yes yes! That's exactly what it's like. It falls off just like that, annoying. People do ship it tho, but HOW they do it... beats me. Oh, I experimented a bit with a velour drawing I never finished, I tried rolling it to see just how fragile it is. This is the result: [link] Ack! The pastel ended up in heaps. It was worse than the image shows, too... Not that one would ever roll a pastel drawing... but... you know. For the sake of the experiment.

well if it's not what you want to draw, then it's okay if you don't... I feel a sudden pang of 'GAH' if I see someone giving up on a drawing which is really nice... but if you're not feeling it, there's not much point.

OMG looking at that picture makes me want to cry... wow it is so nice as well! Lovely colours and blending... and 2 little mountains of pastel dust See, your unfinished 'scraps' are like, everyone else's idea of a materpiece. If I had drawn that I wouldn't have dared to roll it up for the sake of experiment!

Yeah I know. But, I started working on it again, like I said, and it's looking a bit better now. I'm trying to go for more colours, so it won't be so dull. I hope it won't be dull. In that case I might just throw it out the window! (If I dare open it... XD)

Thank you. It was already a bit beat up, and old, and I was never gonna finish it anyway... But I still have it lying around somewhere. Pastel heaps and all.

Yep, that´s what I´m saying. I mean... what´s the point in drawing something that looks just like the original photo? I want a more impressionistic look to my work, but I just can´t make it that way. It´s very frustrating.

I understand where you come from actually... exactly the same thing has made me quit drawing... I've not done anything since last December because I realized I would like to do something that is my own, not just a copy of some random photo... and I know full well that copying was the only thing I could do.
