is the first one dead? assuming its based off a sand dollar, then the grey coloring would imply it's something living in the empty shell of a sand dollar, instead of being a healthy, live sand dollar itself! (are all of them dead/wearing discarded shells? or is this just a color choice i'm ready too much into)

i think its because i originally assumed them to be the original inhabitants of the shells they inhabit that simply grew large and developed enough to have humanoid-esque bodies. but i now realize it's entirely possible the shells aren't theirs and they are actually picking up the vacated shell of a (potentially) deceased ocean critter and making it their.... head? helmet? idk but their designs are very intriguing and fun! (i would love to see one based off a live sand dollar too... so many pretty colors *___*)
