Description I need to work on keeping my legs closer together for good form, but I've been working my yoga and am proud of my progress so far

In my experience I found that stretching to the point of pain gained little benefit to opening that particular area do to the "gripping action" of the muscle which in turn would make my breathing shallow and uneven. When I stretch toΒ point of "awareness" of a certain area where my breath can be deep full and continuos I found over time this would allow more room to stretch and more energy to use to continue the journey to more openness.

Yeah if you feel pain you are hurting yourself. Your body will fight you, and it will hold its breath. You must be able to breath and relax gently into the positions. Your body slowly and comfortably opens itself up and your back bends with a non-painful relaxing stretch. At least in my experience..

I fully intend to keep working on my backbend. I joined contortionists unite to get tips and talk to people when I need help with a posture or anything Very determined
