Description I like her hair the most. Her helmet is a bastard.

Critiques and watches are always welcome. I barely get any.

They are making a new one for the WiiU?

WELL FUCK. I might try asking for one on my birthday if thats the case. (That feeling when the games you like are on consoles you dont have...)

It will be 10 years old next year. They released Wind Waker on its ten anniversary, so they might as re-release Twilight Princess. To buy either of those games for the Gamecube, even second hand is over ninety quid.

The WiiU is the only one worth buying this gen because of Zelda, Smash and Kart. Splatoon is supposed to be decent though. :c

Ah, awesome. I do want to play the new and refined Wind Waker.

One of the downside of the WiiU is it's internal memory is laughably small. You're going to either need an external hard drive or a large memory stick that will be formatted to only work with the console. Future of gaming my friend.

This is so lovely looking! The helmet has nice detail on it and I like the painting effect on her hair. I like how dynamic and sharp the colours are, everything pops really nicely.

I really should highlight parts of that helmet, despite it being about 2 years old. Thanks very much.

I don't know who Midna is to be honest, but it seems like a Tron character to me. I like how you've kept the atmosphere in this work, and the detailing is really well done. I do feel that the flames or the helmet could be made to shine a little more (its just a thought), but overall, her posture and presentation and her appearance is well handled. Well done

Overall I think it is very well done.
If you want a suggestion I can say that the engraved details on the helmet could use highlights where the light hits the grove. I can see that you started doing this in some places, and I think that if you carried it over to the whole helmet then it would read better.

Somnusvorus In reply to siantjudas [2012-12-03 00:16:56 +0000 UTC]

Cheers, I did have a whole highlight and shadow layer for the helmet, but I have do idea what happened to it and at that stage, I probably worked on for too long and I didn't notice. The critique it very much appreciated though. =]

Wow! The only thing that I see wrong with this is the angle of her left arm, everything else is perfect! :3

Her helmet looks slightly off, but I can understand that. It's a pain in the ass to draw.

I'm not one to talk, though, I'm not this good. XD

Somnusvorus In reply to Luvisia [2012-09-25 20:12:29 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, arms are a pain in the ass, but I drew this ages ago and I've been drawing human anatomy loads of times since then. You can, if you just keep drawing and learning about how the human body works and moves.

Thanks for the comment!

That helmet is very annoying. This looks pretty good. The hair just looks a little too...cartoon or not shaded enough compared to the rest of the pic.

Anyway. Like it :3

And you're the first person since I rejoined dA that has given me a proper comment and it is much appreciated.

That helmet gave me so much pain, then I got fed up of it and said feck it, it will do. I wanted to make a contrast between Midna's body and her hair. I was using some of the Hyrule Historia's concept art to for her hair. Her hair didn't have shading to it in the references I got. But thanks for the fav and the comment!

Oh we'll your welcome for both things :3

Yeah I can understand that. I have issues with drawing her hair soo yeah. And the helmet...sometimes I just skip all the detail which...yeah idk. I should not.

I'm a horrible perfectionist. To the point I hate most of my work. It really depend on the angle of her helmet too. Front view, grand. All other angles, ahhh! My eyes and my sense of proportion is gone!

My boyfriend has to tell me to stop fretting the whole time and then says I shouldn't be afraid of making mistakes because I learn from the mistakes. He is right, but that tendency to have to push myself the entire time kicks in.

TheAgeOfArt In reply to Somnusvorus [2012-09-25 22:17:14 +0000 UTC]

It is good to make mistakes. But sometimes you get so into it you try so hard to get the picture just right. I know. I'm working on this big drawing right now and I am redrawing it over and over to test stuff out that way I don't mess up the main one. It's hard work. But in the end worth it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Somnusvorus In reply to TheAgeOfArt [2012-09-26 14:44:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, the best thing to do is get a reference image of a pose that you like and try and break down in 3d shapes.I have a journal that has little links to all this handy little places for getting to know how to draw the human form. I'd say just try and draw lots of preliminary sketches before trying to attempt the main piece.

I procrastinate that. If you look at all my drawings you can tell.

Somnusvorus In reply to TheAgeOfArt [2012-09-26 19:26:23 +0000 UTC]

I'm horrible for that too. Unfortunately, I won't have much time to sit down and draw because I start college in mid-October and I have to buckle down and study. Well, I kinda study things now but I don't have to type up essays and make presentations. = D

Yeah, I'm going as a mature student because I'm over the age of 22. I'll be studying Digital Media for graphic design and making games.

For as long as you love drawing and you have the willingness to learn as much as you can even if you have to try something new all the time, you can get really good at it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheAgeOfArt In reply to Somnusvorus [2012-09-26 22:29:08 +0000 UTC]

Ha that's awesome. Digital media has always interested me. Along with video games of course.

Oh believe me I do not plan on leaving drawing behind. I am learning all forms of art, not just drawing. It is my life I guess ya could say. Ever since I was little. And being self taught too. So trust me I never tire of it
But I will follow that advice. You never know.
