In this scene, Subject 059 ( red figure ) and subject 031 ( Vesp ) are currently in a battle test set up by the lab workers, 059 is more aggressive due to the long time period that they're at the lab which caused a degrees of what humanity 59 had, Vesp didn't want to fight....even if he died, he'd come back due to the things the lab put in him
