Today is the 10th anniversary of my all-time favorite animated Walt Disney Feature Animation Studios, ‘’Treasure Planet’’ (2002) It came out on November 27th.I saw a preview for it on the video release of ‘’Monsters Inc.’’, and even saw the trailer in theatres (in front of ‘’Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron’’ and maybe ‘’Jonah’)
I also (to memory) wasn’t really familiar with Treasure Island (The R.L.S. Legacy.. I mean Robert Louis Stephenson novel the film is based off) but I understood like later after seeing the movie.
Oh, and I did (thankfully) see it in theatres on the big screen! It was amazing, beautiful, funny, and I really like the style of traditional 2D animation it featured. Plus, the music has heart and soul.
The movie tragically, was met with mixed and unhappy reviews... Actually, it did some probably more positive reviews, and (as Michael Eisner declared) was a box office flo.. failure. : (
Thankfully it was Oscar nominated an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, but (along with ice Age, Lillo and Stich, and Spirit) was beaten by ‘’Spirited Away’’ (although I haven’t seen it or plan to or have a right to judge, I can already say that Treasure Planet is WAY better than that movie, and the same goes for the other films. Even Jonah deserved a nomination)
This movie deserves more acclaim than some of the films Pixar has done! (Oh yeah, I said that. Um hmm)
But thankfully Disney has been nice and released the film on Blu-ray this year on July 3rd (for its anniversary)
For the art, I did this over the previous weekend, and I really love this art!
This movie will always be special to me, and it deserved this lookback I gave it.

This does look nice, but in some places there needs to be better contrast between the background and foreground. In some places the messy colouring does work, but still, you should work more on shading, especially with the black areas. Also, the guy in the middle(Jim Hawkins?) needs work - his left arm looks way too short and his right arm looks kind of bent awkwardly. As for the hands, you need to look up some hand-drawing tutorials. You do have some talent, but you also need to work on bettering your skill.

Thanks! (Same for the fave). It is one of Disney's best (I even like it better than Snow White, Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast. Uh oh, angry fans are after me!) and deserves WAY more respect than it has. I wish there was a theme park ride.

Great job!!! It looks very nice! Treasure Planet is my favorite childhood movie ever! I still watch it a lot, and I hope to get it on Blu-Ray here soon for the 10th anniversary! It's sad it was so underrated, but people just judged it without trying it! I saw it in the theaters and it's still my favorite movie.
