Description
When thinking about "The Lego Movie" recently, I came upon... I mean, realized a new theory.. that the second film may not feature the characters from the first one (which is why Emmet, Benny the 80s-Spaceman and Angry UniKitty/AngryKitty are pondering in this picture).Sometime after seeing the film back in February, I started having ideas. The first film, if you know, has a message in which it states "That Legos have no limitations and should not be.... well... without spoiling much, used as display". I figured that the second film would explore the important safety rules that LEGO instructs... and recently, teach that it's okay if you need instructions to help you. That, and the characters (with an explorer who is a fan-favorite and major LEGO icon) search for Lost Master Builder (a.k.k gone or forgotten LEGO characters).
It would be weird to see another motion picture without the characters from the 2014 Lego film (after all, sometimes people desire sequels is because they want to see more of the characters they love), but the movie has a complete story, so it would make sense and be appropriate to not have the cast return... well, at least not for a full appearance.
It wouldn't be the first time something like this would have happened. Only two characters appear as central party-members in two "The Knights of the Old Republic" games, while each "Final Fantasy" is set in a different world and place with different characters (unless the game, say like... VII, had a sequel). Of course, to keep the respect to LEGO, the main character (who could be a female lead) could have clothes and a job that symbolizes LEGO, probably a facotry worker (like Emmet wa... is a construction worker).
Of course, that's my theory, I don't know what director Chris McKay nor the producers are planning.

To me they should not do the Unikitty x Benny. *JUST MY THOUGHT* To me a better ship would be Unikitty x Bad Cop/Good Cop.

I wouldn't mind. Have you noticed how cliched the original LEGO Movie was? Sometimes, sequels tend to do the same things. And we don't want another cliched movie again because we know what we'd be expecting. I'm okay if we get another cast. But all I know is that a sequel is happening, all right.

Even with ... whatever many cliches The Lego Movie had, they were majorly overshadowed by the creativity the movie offered and the funniness of most of the humor.
I am sure if the writers and director put a lot of effort in the sequel if the original characters return, it would be as great as DreamWorks' sequels "Kung Fu Panda" and "Dragons 2". Of course, a new cast would be a fresh way to go, especially since the Lego Movie is a complete story.

Yup. But the ending of the first movie did leave as a cliff-hanger for a sequel, so they may return for another movie.

...The Dopulos to be in the movie or fun, and no sequel was planned. Plus, there are many reasons, or at least some- in which the seqeul will NOT be about them fighting the Duplos. #1 would be discriminating toward little kids who love Duplos.... And LEGO doesn't approve of discrimination really (unfortunately, "The Man Upstairs" who is meant to symbolize how an adult fan plays with LEGOs has been misunderstood, since the character is a Father. And there is ther whole "Firends" controversy). And #2... There really is NOT a plot, let alone a creative plot, in which the characters fight aliens...

Naw, there were talks of a sequel EVEN BEFORE the movie was released! So that had to be a cliff-hanger.

Well, if you know the ending of the movie, it was a kid using his imagination to create this adventure with LEGOs. And because his sister playing with Duplo LEGOs is a threat to his fun, he mase them the bad guys. So, as long as you know that the kid is having fun, it will be okay for the Duplos to be the bad guys. On top of that, wouldn't it be funny if cutesy creatures are a threat to everyone? That's just silly.
And even then, they might do something with the ending similar to the first film. The first film was about being creative with the LEGOs for fun, not to be left alone and not be touched. And that was a lesson for the dad. Maybe in the sequel, the twist could be that the sister could teach a lesson to her big brother about letting the Duplos have their own fun. They're probably not bad all the time and want to belong, so the good guys welcome them in.

Well, sometimes that's the beauty of movies: simple plot or premise that keeps you guessing where it's gonna go and what it's building up to. But again, it is also cliched, with the hero being an ordinary nobody who turns out saving the day in the end. Yeah, seen it. But here, it's much more fun.

Still, It would be nice to see another LEGO movie about LEGO in general (like different lines and pieces, ways to play, and some of the famous-to-fans original Characters)

Messa was hoping that would happen. and maybe his own film someday to (as long as it's actual stop-motion)
Call me an obsessed nerd, but it would be interesting to see a rivalry between him and Jar Jar Binks.

There's always fan brick films
In those, anything can happen. With all that lego has done, a fan could make a DC, MARVEL, Star Wars, TMNT, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lone Ranger, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings crossover, and maybe throw in Spongebob just for absolute insanity

Yeah,. but it's every brickfilmfan's dream to see a stop-motion LEGO movie in theaters (plus, it seems more reasonable than a stop-motion TV series)
Eerrhh... aside from Star Wars, I kind of am now pushed away by all the licensed themes. With and after Batman, the licensing brands got way out of hand, and really leave no impact on it (like Lone Ranger and TMNT). Plus, the recent video games look unappealing.. like TT just didn't care, and only make those games for the sake of them being made. t would be nice to see original characters like Pepper Roni, Jack Stone, Dash Justice, and every other missing character again. As well as LEGO actually caring about most of their original themes (since some of the recent ones aren't as good or leave impact).

Star Wars does seem to be Lego's profit bringer right now, with the Superheroes lines gaining ground.
Lego seems to be caring more about money than the fans...

Star Wars is a theme that may and should never be disconnected. CITY is their most successful original brand.
Sigh... that is true, since LEGO has pulled get-rich-quick moves or joined band-wagons. Some of the licensed themes are mostly on what's popular (like TMNT) or a new movie (like Lord of the Rings for The Hobbit). And the DC Superhero line... sigh... GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!! It basically should just be called "BATMAN" since Batman appears in every bricking set! While the other Justice Heroes don
't have their own lines, but appear in a set about and starring BATMAN and batman related! STUD.... And as for Batman's appearance in "The LEGO Movie" as a main character.. Warner probably needed to milk him more/OR were afraid the movie wouldn't make any money without a POPULAR face.
And... the TT gaming brand... each new entry seems unappealing and probably UNFINISHED! I believe now that TT has to make a LEGO video game based off a licensed property just for the sake of one being made... instead of just making a GOOD game in general.

It is aggravating when one wants to collect DC superheroes, and you have to get different Batman variants to get them. Outside the Man of Steel sets there has only been 1 set that didn't include ol bats, or his sidekicks.
I guess they've been doing more with Batman inTV shows and movies lately, plus he's one of the most iconic of the heroes, with one of the most iconic rogue's gallery.
As of this year, there has been at least 16 versions of Batman's costume!
I would love to see a Teen Titans based setline, but I seriously doubt that'll happen, considering howthey're treating Cyborg..

The same goes during the Clone Wars years, one the same Anakin was in almost every set. Or "The Lego Movie" line has a limited amount of Emmet faces.
Overmarketing something because it's is probably a bad business decision, because it's favoring and butchering that subject while ignoring other ones, plus it becomes a FAD and fads often are like candles... they will go out someday soon. In fact, Batman has kind of become... dated (just watch the trailer for the new "Annie")
It would be nice to see Teen Titans sets... but NOOOO because of Cyborg being in Justice League, and how bias Warner is against Robin!

I think another thing that's been hit by make-big-money marketing, is the Power Rangers. in 2009 Disney decided to cancel the series. In 2010 the original owner, Haim Saban, bought the rights back from Disney and started producing new ones. Rather than just one season per year, he's been spreading each series over 2 years, and for the 2nd season shoving the word 'Super' into the title(Samurai/Super Samurai, MegaForce/Super MegaForce). Next year is no exception, because they already announced Dino Charge and Dino Supercharge. UGH!
Toy sales however have gone up especially with the gimmick of Super MegaForce being able to acces past ranger powers.
Also the newer shows seem to try to capture the campiness and awesomeness of the original, but they come short due to poor acting.
Saban seems desperate to keep his creation afloat, because he's going so far as to create a new theatrical movie based on the all-time fan favorite, the originals.
