Title: Shadow's PastFADE IN:
EXT. SPACE COLONY ARK - DAY
We see a young Shadow the Hedgehog with his friend Maria Robotnik, walking through the corridors of the Space Colony Ark.
SHADOW:
Maria, why do we have to leave this place?
MARIA:
We have to go back to Earth. My grandfather needs our help.
SHADOW:
I don't like leaving the Ark. It's the only place where we're free.
MARIA:
We'll come back someday, Shadow. I promise.
They continue walking until they reach a laboratory. Inside, they find Dr. Eggman and several GUN soldiers.
DR. EGGMAN:
Maria, you shouldn't be here.
MARIA:
What's going on, grandfather?
DR. EGGMAN:
I'm sorry, Maria. I have to do this.
The soldiers grab Maria and hold her back as Dr. Eggman points a gun at Shadow.
DR. EGGMAN:
Shadow, you were created to be the ultimate weapon. It's time for you to fulfill your purpose.
SHADOW:
I won't do it. I won't hurt anyone.
DR. EGGMAN:
You don't have a choice.
The soldiers restrain Shadow as Dr. Eggman injects him with a serum. Shadow screams in agony as he transforms into his current form.
SHADOW:
Maria, help me!
Maria breaks free from the soldiers and runs towards Shadow.
MARIA:
Shadow, I'll always be with you. Remember that.
DR. EGGMAN:
Take her away.
The soldiers take Maria away as Shadow watches in horror.
SHADOW:
Maria!
FADE OUT.
FADE IN:
EXT. SPACE COLONY ARK - DAY (FLASHBACK)
We see an older Shadow standing in the same spot where he and Maria were separated.
SHADOW:
Maria, I've kept my promise. I've protected the planet just like you wanted me to.
Shadow looks up at the sky, remembering his past.
SHADOW:
But I still feel like something's missing. Maybe one day, I'll find out what it is.
FADE OUT.
