Sketch + Basic line art done on Tablet PC.
At first I didn't know if I was going to make this porper work, so there is a bunch of sketchiness.
First time draging the dragon to so I have to make sure the proportions made sense.
Step 2
Started to ink then got lazy/felt challenged.
Applied colors with big strokes to have an overall feel of the picture.
A bit more work was put on the face since it's one of the important parts of the picture. Bad face ruins the whole thing and all.
Step 3
Smoothing out the color. This is also the part where you aim for how light actually works with all the details.
Step 4
Technically still step 3 since you're not doing anything more different, just more refined.
Feels like a different step because it's noticeably different from the previous state.
I completed the background and felt like it was plain on the left, so I added moar dragons!
This picture was posted initially in this state! It looked really nice on my Tablet PC's screen but...
Step 5
Ogodwtf! When you view the image on another screen it looks really bad! Lesson learned: always finish work on desktop.
So I adjusted the colours to make to look better on the desktop's screen.
Since it was all in one layer I had to use masks to aim the correction layers.
Also took the opportunity to put more shadows in some areas and add blue ambient light on Drum.
