Something I often do when I try new characters that aren't Sonic-like. I usually keep them for myself, but lately, I just feel like sharing things. Hopefully, someone else will find this useful other than me. X3This is Byakko no Kogenta from Onmyou Taisenki, an anime I just finished watching. It's been a while since I watched anime, and this one, I really liked. So much I wanted to do fanart.
It's a collage of all my practice canvases, from first attempts to earlier ones (left to right). The right-most ones come from my sketchbook. You can see why they're not very consistent, since I didn't look at references for those

this is awesome, I'm actually planning on doing a cosplay of him either for ASTL or A-CEN depending on how much time I have, and this will help me a lot

Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaah~ Kogenta! You've drawn him *VERY* accurately, and I love the expressions. You really managed to capture the essence of Kogenta here. And if you colored that full body picture... I'd love you for evers. ._. Onmyou Taisenki needs more fans who do fanart, badllyyyyy!! There's only like 2 pages of art for it here if you do a search...

Wow, you really really REALLY should show off more of your other work "O____O" Seriously, Sonic is fine and dandy once in a while, but an artist just honestly shines their best if they show their own developing style.. and man, do I really love this style you have. You should do more of these! The facial structure and design is just fantastic, I think. What a cute character!
Wait, is this guy from an anime? I never seen it before.. I just wanna make sure XD At first glance, I thought it was a character you made up. CLEAR UP MY MIND MAN.
The details on the full-body picture is lovely.. like on the torso and stuff.. the eyes are win throughout all of it.

I had a discussion earlier with someone on whether I should back away from Sonic art a bit and show the other stuff I hide from the public. Seems you both think the same way, hehe.
About the character? I wish I designed it. But I didn't. I really love the design though. X3
I modified the eyes a bit since I like it more that way but aside from that, it's pretty much how he's drawn. I'll have a colour version ready to show

You really should. I think that develops you more as an artist and gives you something.. unique. You don't really want to be known as "that guy who draws Sonic really well" don't you? Surely you'd like to have someone see something you drew and think "Ahh, Sonicolas did that.. he's a really cool guy"
But yeah.. it's always good to practice off of different styles, then XD And I feel you did very well with that character!

Wow you got his hair done really well. It was a pain for me to draw his hair.. .it was like 85% of time I used to doodle him once. XDD
All this planning and proportions you do, nice dedication.
Nice anime, isn't it? It's one of the few that has a good character development.

Yeah, he has a special hairstyle there. I completely messed it up the face analysis one though XP
Along with character development, I really liked the fact that no one was completely black or white. Everyone is both, and that's awesome, haha.

J'ai mΓͺme achetΓ© les mangas pour voir la lgueule que Γ§a avait...bin l'histoire du manga est dix fois mieux mais Kogenta plus moche.
