I can definitely see this happening! Actually, Red and Ash have a friendly battle in my fan fiction (Shameless advertising FTW). Red might win, but not without some hard work on Ash's part, and if that happens, I think Red would be a good sport about it. Same with Ash if he wins.
Wait. *Squints* Is Ash's hat backwards!? Fans who grew up with the Pokémon anime would know what that means; things just got serious!

Thanks for those kind words! I personally think that Red is far superior than Ash in terms of battles since Red has kept his team comp the same for a long time. Ash on the other hand trades out his
pokemon every time he goes on a new journey. I like to think of it like this; we have two musicians. Both have been playing music for a long time, but musician A has only been
practicing on his violin while musician B has jumped from instrument to instrument, including the violin. Sure they both know how to play the violin, but the experience A has on it is
much more than B.
I would say Ash is superior in terms of pokemon knowledge (even though he seems to be very forgetful). Again I can use the musicians to illustrate. Since musician B has a wider range
of musical knowledge, he can switch between various new instruments by applying knowledge of previous instruments while musician A has to go and learn from scratch.
Sorry for the long response, but I feel like lots of people over look these things.

I'd honestly be okay with whoever wins, so long as Ash puts up a good fight (and he's actually a pretty good trainer so he will). But yeah I totally would love to see this! If they ever conclude the Pokémon anime, the need to end it with this.

OKAY!!!! Red knocked over Team Rocket, Ash knocked over about four other villain teams. Red got the gym badges for the first region, Ash got the badges for the first region AND every other one after that. The reason why Ash hasn't caught a lot of pokemon? I believe he was scared that his friends would make him release them. Red caught legendaries, Ash saved them. So hush!
