Page 3
Page two! Thing I'm most excited about: Scratch and Grounder. What can I say, I'm a sucker for AoStH! I really aughtta put backgrounds on this one, but I also shoulda laid it out beforehand, too! Anyway, since I know it's not clear, due to the no backgrounds thing, they're supposed to be loading him into a badnic--to be used as a battery. Basically, Eggman decided that kidnapping Mobians wasn't working, and that if he really wanted to power his badnics he should just pull his batteries, i.e. people, from another world. Sonic can't rescue who he doesn't know is missing! Or that's the theory, anyway. Apparently a dimensional portal is more energy efficient than his robots.
He should look into that.
I liked making this page, though it is pretty cluttered. Again, should've plotted it out better first, but I've never really plotted these TF comics. I know, need to start. Or barring plotting it out, I coulda moved stuff around before I inked, too, but nope! Didn't do that either! That's alright, this one's pretty much for fun, anyway.
I don't even know if he's realized he's started to transform into a hedgehog, yet! Pretty shocking day. Brought into an entirely new world, manhandled by some doofy robots, called a battery, and changed species!

I liked him as an adorably endless snark machine in Sonic Unleashed, but havenβt really cared for him sense. Not sure if itβs just that Cubot is a lot less funny than the writers seem to think he is, or if Orbotβs interactions with him rob them of their punch.
I stand by the idea of him trying to boss Scratch and Grounder around as comedy gold, though!

I'm a sucker for the twins myself. xD I love Scratch and Grounder.Β
I love Eggman's logic. Sonic can't rescue those who he doesn't know are missing. Seems legit. xD Then again, even his legit schemes get messed up. xD

^_^ Hells yes, I adore those two!Β Somewhat shamefully, AoStH is probably my favorite Sonic show.
Ahh, Eggman schemes!Β I guess we can be glad he's not summoning an ancient evil or "God of destruction" again...YET.

I used to be able to imitate Scratch's laugh to a T when I was younger, xD I like Sonic SatAM a little more than AoStH, but they're both my top Sonic shows.Β
Or building some sort of amusement park which isn't all that amusing once you start snooping around. xD

^_^ The SatAM was the one I adored as a kid, AoStH only wooed me over a few years ago when I gave it another chance.Β ^_^ Of course, I also manage to like Sonic Underground, despite all its flaws, so maybe I don't have very good taste.
"I know!Β I'll build a massive amusement park!Β With lava!Β And MASHY SPIKE PLATES!"Β I loved Sonic and Chip taking photos in front of the big Eggman statue out front!

Don't feel too bad. That's exactly how it went for me. SatAM, AoStH, Underground, then I somewhat got into X, but Chris sort of ruined it for me, lol.
xD I did too! Have you played Sonic Colors? I've only played it on the DS.

Heh, I feel the same way about X--it's fun, especially at parts, but yeah, Chris's part was way too big, and just about anything he actually did (very little) ought to've gone to Tails.
I have played it!Β On Wii, not beat it yet, for reasons!

You're the first person to actually say that it was fun. O:
It looks fun, but apparently there are a few kinks in the game that makes it annoying?

SonicSpirit128 In reply to Pisces19 [2014-03-19 06:58:12 +0000 UTC]
Eh, yeah, I'd agree with that.Β Overall the gameplay's pretty good, a bit easy, maybe, but not terribly buggy.Β My biggest problem is you have to hold a trigger button to run with any speed at all, and until you realize that, the game's astonishingly slow for a Sonic game.Β And there's really no reason not to continuously hold the button.Β When held, you can do the wall runs and wall jumps that've become a staple of Sonic games (especially easy in Lost World), and it doesn't really affect your maneuverability in the "Don't fall to your death" portions.Β In fact, it helps them, since you'll pretty much just start running up any edge you're close enough to.Β The only time that "hold the button" thing will really kill you is if you press it while standing still, since that'll cause you to blast off when you move again.Β But that doesn't happen if you just keep holding it.Β It's kinda weird that way.Β Other than that the attack buttons aren't arranged exactly where I expect (POOR BABY, right?), and I'm simply not a fan on the targeted homing attack.Β I'll always be a sucker for good ol' SA1 and SA2 homing attacks where it mostly snaps to the nearest enemy (within reason, and not across half the screen, which is always way weird to me--even as it saved my ass a TON playing Unleashed), and can send you plummeting over the edge to your doom if you're not careful.Β Ah...good times.
Other than that, I really like it when games simply take place on Mobius.Β I like Mobius.Β It's a really awesome place.Β But I can't fault them too bad for wanting to do experiment with different, weird things with level design, and they made Lost Hex an interesting setting--not some place I'd want to spend more than one game on, but still entertaining.Β They played around a lot with planetoids and gravities, creating a world that wrinkles and bends in on itself, and some of the most interesting stages focus on that element.Β That doesn't make them my favorite stages, but they are memorable.Β My favorite stages, and the ones that feel most like a Sonic game are the desert stages--they look good, and they let you get up some speed.Β Even if the inclusion of Lost Hex makes me wonder how many planetoids are orbiting Mobius!Β Lost Hex, Planet Wisp, the Miracle Planet...throw in Angel Island and the sky's starting to seem pretty crowded! (admittedly, I'd kinda assumed Planet Wisp was the Miracle Planet)
There are some things the game did really well, though.Β It brought back Eggman powering his robots using animals (I still stubbornly cling to my belief they're just other Mobians), even cementing the "Yeah, they're the power source" angle.Β There's an interesting aspect to the game where you must have rescued a minimum number of animals to proceed to the next stages--I've only had to go back and go collecting once, it's pretty easy to just get animals throughout the stages, I hadn't noticed the minimum levels for a long time.
Story-wise, I have some issues, but I haven't beaten the game yet, so I'll reserve judgement 'til then.Β Right now, there're some weird things that bug me, but we'll see where they go with them.
Welp!Β That sorta turned into an essay!

Pisces19 In reply to SonicSpirit128 [2014-03-19 23:34:08 +0000 UTC]
And despite it turning into an essay, I read it all and I must admit that I appreciate you giving so much thought into this response. Other people would have just named all the cons instead of the pros as well. Your argument has only cemented my urge to play this game, but that would involve me getting the actual system. (I only have a PS3, PS2, DS Lite and down. I had to sell my 360.)
Thank you for that.

^_^ In the Archie Sonic comics, yes.Β This is more a world based off the games, with elements from the various comics and shows thrown in for flavor.
'Course, the comics have humans/Overlanders as well--though most of them fled to SPAAAAACE!Β And then came back.Β And then went to the "Hidden City of the Ancients"...which also happens to be Station Square!
