(we see Sonic waking up in what appears to be a starry landscape. where was he, he wondered. he quickly got on his feet and sees that he was literally standing on water. he felt a gentle breeze and so he started running to wherever the wind guided him. he looks around, and feels quite at peace, calm even. unlike being trapped in Null Space, and have his entire being possessed by the End itself, this was something new.)

(eventually, he sees Sage, in her white and blue form, floating as she gazes onto the horizon.)

Sonic: Uhhh... Sage, right? O.O

Sage: (turns to face him with a smile on her face, not a trace of hostility was seen on her expression) yes, Sonic. I was expecting to see you here.

Sonic: (wants to say something to her, but stops himself and looks away with guilt and shame in his eyes) Ú.Ù

Sage: Sonic? what's wrong?

Sonic: listen...Sage...about everything Sophie and I did to save our friends, neither of us had any idea of what would happen by the time we were still infected by the Cyber Corruption. but then, we realized our mistake too late. Sophie almost died, and I literally became a vessel of that monster that destroyed the Ancients! once again, I always put everyone in life threatening danger with my recklessness.

Sage: Sonic, you must know that none of this was your fault. I knew that neither you and Sophie would heed my warnings. that's why I sent the three previous titans after you, so you wouldn't release Nihilus from it's imprisonment in Cyber Space.

Sonic: but still, there could've been another way to save my friends instead of being tricked by some unknown voice...and you...you could've survived the final battle. its my fault that you died...!

Sage: no. its not. I did what I believed was the right thing to do. I gave my life to save you and your friends, and the world from Death itself. no one is at fault for what happened to me. due to the simulations I ran earlier, I chose to do this, because this was the only way for everyone to survive. so please, don't lament my passing.

Sonic: Sage...if there's one thing I want to say is...I'm sorry. but if there's one thing I could make up to you and fix my terrible mistake, what would it be?

Sage: there's no need for an apology. however, there is something you must know.

Sonic: Huh?

Sage: when I was created, I started out as a servant of eggman, always looking up to him while blindly doing whatever he orders me to do. But whenever I encountered you and your friends, I noticed you have a strong bond and relationship with each other, showing love and friendship while helping each other grow by learning from mistakes.

Sonic: O.O

Sage: I then learned what being a family is like and, along with the realization that it’s not the same with me and the doctor. everytime we interacted, in the Doctor's eyes, I was nothing more than a robot with no feelings and will simply do whatever he wants with no regard for my feelings without giving a second thought. from the beginning, I was oblivious to what being a family is like and it’s because of you, Sophie and your friends that I have gained a new understanding of how eggman truly feels about me. In a sense, I felt alone without a real family or friends that care about me up until now.

Sonic: (sadly) Sage, I.... I didn't know.

Sage: that's why I want you to remember my final request. please... (takes Sonic's hand) look after the doctor for me. look after... father.

(and with that, everything went white as the dream ends.)

(the dark sky begins to light up with the break of dawn, yet the shooting stars were still falling from up above. Sonic wakes up, feeling somewhat mentally refreshed. there was no burden left in his heart from all that transpired up until this point, so he looks up at the shooting stars and smiles at the view, taking in a few deep breaths to appreciate the moment, before seeing Tails, Knuckles and Amy run up to him , asking if he was alright. Sonic smiles and nods at them, before Amy runs to hug him, and he returns the hug, Tails gave him a high five and Knuckles gave him a fist bump. being in his friends' presence made him feel at peace as they laugh among themselves. then he turns around to look for Sophie and Bendy, who were nowhere in sight. Tails told him that after he fell unconscious from exhaustion, the angel and the demon decided to leave him in their care. but even he wasn't sure where they went... and it was here that Sonic turned to see Eggman, still standing on the cliff, watching the stars fall. Sonic remembers Sage's request for him, prior to her death, and in his recent dream.)

“Please, look after… father.”

Sonic: Father...(thinking) that's right... Eggman was her father. he made her after all, but… I've never seen him like this before. is he… mourning?

(Sonic knew he couldn’t leave in good faith, not now. As much as he hated the guy, he knew this was his responsibility to shoulder.)

Sonic: Hey guys, could you hang tight for a bit? I’ve got some things I need to sort out first.

Amy: Alright, but be back quick! Say hi to the Koco for me on your way too!

Tails: Oh, me too!

Knuckles: Well if you guys are all getting a mention, make sure you bring me up too! Wouldn’t want them to forget about me!

Sonic: Will do, guys! And no need to worry, Knucklehead.

(Sonic smiles as he turned around towards the cliff, took off towards Eggman, feet blurring beneath him as he boosted through the foliage. He let his forced smile relax once he was out of their eye line, settling into neutrality, and soon found himself beside Eggman atop the cliff.
He wondered, for a moment, if he was making the right choice coming up here. It wasn’t that he couldn’t be civil; he was able to restrain himself when he had to. He just wasn’t much good with emotions this heavy. He could barely work them out in his own head, let alone Eggman’s. He’d usually open their conversations with a snide quip or scathing nickname, but now? It felt wrong. So Sonic was left floundering. Instead of his usual routine, and after much deliberation, Sonic opted to sit beside Eggman on the cliff. It didn’t take long for him to draw his attention. the doctor was still not averting his gaze from the falling stars that tore through the sky above him.)

Eggman: What are you doing here, rodent? Don’t you have your little posse to get back to?

Sonic: Relaying a message, I suppose...for Sage.

Eggman: .....

Sonic: She told me and Sophie to look after you. At least, I think she did. Was more of a mind beam sort of thing, but I heard her voice when she…

Eggman: You don't need to say it.

Sonic: Right.

Eggman: I don’t need you two to look after me, anyway. I’ll be just fine on my own.

Sonic: Suits me just fine, Egghead.

(Silence fell between the two once again, this time laced with awkward energy.)

Eggman: You’ve said your piece, hedgehog. you can leave now...

Sonic: Wow, how gracious of you. You can’t say I’m not trying. -_-

Eggman: I don't need your pity!

Sonic: (does a mental double-take as he looked up at his arch nemesis) And why do you think it’s pity? I’m just doing what I have to. Since Sage is… gone, I’m going to do my best for her, even with how hard you insist on making it for me!

Eggman: (clenches his fist) She isn’t gone.

Sonic: ...What?! I saw her throw herself into that thing! She exploded!

Eggman: (Swings around, angrily, arm gesturing widely as he faces Sonic) AND SHE ISN'T GONE!

Sonic: O.O

Eggman: You think I wouldn’t make a data backup of my own daughter?!

Sonic: So she really was, huh? your daughter?

Eggman: Is. And… I suppose so, yes.

Sonic: She called you her father, you know. When she asked me to look after you. (shakes his head) Sophie hung around Sage longer than I have since I was possessed by that thing. but throughout this journey, with every encounter we had with her, I can tell that kid had… has a soft spot for you.

Eggman: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! How could she not love her own father? And I’m certainly her favourite!

Sonic: Yeah, naturally. you'd be anybody's favorite. 7.7 still, you said you could bring her back with a backup, is it really that easy? O.O

Eggman: It’ll be a piece of cake for a mind like mine! Easier than making her, that’s for sure.

Sonic: …Will she remember this?

Eggman: Huh?

Sonic: Saving the world, the Starfall Islands, all that jazz.

Eggman: Hmph, I don’t have to tell you anything.

Sonic: (rolls his eyes) Gee, thanks for the help. Just wondering, is all. U.U

Eggman: Well, you can wonder somewhere else! I can’t give my greatest enemy all my trade secrets!

Sonic: Touché, Eggman. I’ll be off with my ‘posse’ then!

(the blue hedgehog said with a wave, getting up from the ground to run down the slope of the cliff yet again. However, before he could make it more than a few steps, he heard Eggman speak up behind him.)

“Thank you.”

Sonic: !!! (thinking) did the Supernova did more damage to my ears than I thought it would? (turns to face the doctor ,speaking) What was that? O.O

Eggman: Nothing, you’re hearing things! Just Go!

(With a small smile, Sonic rolled his eyes and made his way down the cliff once more. Eggman said Sage could come back. he couldn’t save her in their space-bound fight, but her digital blood wasn’t on his and Sophie's hands. The thought still made his heart ache with guilt, that he let her make that sacrifice.

he thought of Hyper Metal Sonic, Shadow, Cosmo, Emerl, Sophie, who died before his eyes by Mephiles' hands to protect him. Shahra, who also sacrificed herself to protect him from the Erazor Djinn. Chip/Light Gaia, the Resistance fighters, and the prisoners who died in the war against Eggman and Infinite. Ember, who was killed by Iblis back in Flame Core. Eralios, the high priest of ancient Soleanna, who sacrificed himself during Solaris' third and final judgement on the world. Nike, who protected him from Thanatos as she was slain by the Blade of Olympus, which parallels Sophie's death at the hands of Mephiles for the same reason. and now Sage, who battled The End with him and Sophie and sacrificed herself for the greater good.

of course, some of them returned back to the world of the living by some miracles, yet there were others who are really gone from this world.

How many times could he try his luck before it finally caught up to him? Before somebody he cherishes dies forever with his negligence? How many self-sacrifices would he have to witness before something in him finally snaps?

He couldn’t let it happen again. He wouldn’t.
If another’s life was on the line, he would fight to his last breath. )

(after the credits roll, Sonic was back with Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, as well as Sophie and Bendy, who recently woke up and made their way to them.)

Sonic: well...that was fun. -w-

(the five look at each other and then at Sonic, thinking if it was about sorting things out or...the whole ordeal of being trapped in Cyber Space.)

Bendy: if its about being trapped in Cyber Space, then its a big No-No! -^-

(Tails moved his hands, Knuckles sighs and Amy shook her head. agreeing with the little demon's statement.)

Sophie: yeaaahh...I agree with them, since...you know...the Cyber Corruption and all. U.U

Sonic: I didn't mean that. I meant saying Hi to the Kocos for you guys while I was taking care of personal business on my way back here.

(at that, the group smiles and nod in approval.)

Sonic: but I guess it's time we get moving. I know you all have big plans.

Tails: You're gonna hardly recognize me when we see each other again!

Amy: I wonder how Cream and Cosmo are doing right now! I can't wait to see them!

Knuckles: It'll be good to get back on my island. at least...for a while.

Sophie: I think I'll go back and be with my siblings until another big villain shows up.

Bendy: I'm with Sophie! I can't wait to see Henry, Boris, Alice, Mary, Bailey and the others again!

Sonic: We're wasting daylight! lets go! (hops on the Tornado)

(and with that, Tails activates the Tornado, as Sophie and Bendy sprout their wings. the plane took flight, with a glimpse of Sonic and Knuckles glancing at each other, with Bendy and Sophie flying beside each other, flying off of Starfall Islands, and make their way back home, thus the story comes to an end.)

(then, after the credits, we see Eggman in his lab, typing on the keyboard, looking at the screen as he continues pressing the buttons. then, the screen changes into what appears to be a symbol... that symbol belongs to none other than Sage herself as we hear her voice once again.)
