So...ummm...me and MagicalCelestialGem both have this headcanon... (a MegOP related headcanon)

that some time after Predacons Rising, Optimus' spark leaves Cybertron (with Primus' permission) to go look for Megatron, who exiled himself after being freed from Unicron's tormenting influence for his actions. for the war he himself started, and for his crimes, and went to parts unknown within the universe and make his own way and be somewhere, alone, where he could never hurt anyone again.

and Optimus' spark wanders through the stars, planets, aimlessly, desperate to reunite with Megatron and reconcile with him after eons of war.

while Megatron is on his own, also wandering around space. he may have started the war, killed many, and have known the true meaning of suffering. but no pain is greater than being separated from Optimus seemingly forever, because everything he did was unforgivable, and thinks the Prime hated him and no longer cared for him. an everlasting exile seemed like a more appropriate and bearable punishment for his crimes compared to Unicron's endless torture...but that does not excuse the painful longing he felt in his weary spark. not knowing that the Prime himself who was searching for him, also felt the agonizing feeling of longing to be with Megatron again, along with fears concerning the ex-warlord that bring only more pain to his spark.

(again, and its for both our AUs btw)

and for Primus' sake, I'M CRYING EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS SONG 'CAUSE MY POOR HEART CAN'T HANDLE THE FEELS AAAAAAAAAAAA!
