Zen is more or less what I was going for in this shot! Glad you saw it that way.

Great! I very much like idea. This arch creates a natural framework for that landscape that is behind it. But it seems to me, that the photo does not suffice depth, i.e. an eye it seems flat. Perhaps, if the tile, which was closer to the camera, would be with more light and more bright, the photo would be more volume and depth. And may be was necessary to reduce shutter speed?

Thanks very much for the great comment! I decided that I was going to shoot today and found this place with many nice archs.
Unfortunately As I got there the clouds covered my sunny day. I was very dissapointed. I decided I was going to shoot anyway.
That Is why there is such a lack of light. I do agree with having the camera closer to the tile. I did reduce the speed in another shot which looks fine on the camera LCD but once I opened it in the computer there was too much camera shake blur since I could not use my tripod without my quick release plate which I left at home. *sigh I'm being tempted to move this one to my scraps... but I'll give it a chance first, at least so I can get more tips on better photography.

Cool picture

Did you try it in black & white? I think for the type of picture it might be more effective?

Thanks very much!!

I did try it in B/W but could not get the contrast I wanted since It was relatively dark out. Although I do agree with you, I originaly wanted this in B/W.

What kind of workflow do you do to convert them as B/W ?

Just out of curiosity I opened this picture in Photoshop, converted it B/W by using the Channel Mixer and extracting the green channel, then did a brightness ajustment, then a highlight adjustment and finally did a USM. It turned out really great.

First I desaturate the Image. Or open a channel mixer adj layer and set it to monochrome. Then I open up a Levels adj. layer
and adjust the highlights and shadows based on the histogram. Then I use a curves adj layer to fix the brightness and contrast.
I use USM after if needed or before I switch to JPEG because thers a bit of dullness. However I was experimenting with it again
using different settings and got better results. I just want to be careful not to have too much data loss in the final image. Please let me know what b/w process you use, perhaps there is something I am missing.
