That's right, when I take a break from sketching, I like to sketch. It relaxes me from the grind of continuous sketching.No, I will not admit that I have a problem. I won't admit it because that is the first step to getting better and I want to wallow in my sketchy Hell.
Oh boy, I could really go for a DESIGN brand drawing pencil right about now. A size "F" if you got one...don't make me beg, man. Please. Look, I'll take an HB. ANYTHING. Just put it into aching hand already.

Hello, lets get to it shall we?
I came across this piece while browsing the "Newest Deviations" and I had to click on this one. The expressive faces and Goofy's funny words make this piece funny and well done for a "break" sketch.
The drawings very nicely mimicking the traditional Walt Disney style, and resemble the original characters as if drawn by disney cartoonists themselves (This draws a point away from "originality" however)
The attention to small details like Goofy's whiskers and creases on his shirt satisfy my little OCD for such detail and make it more enjoyable, good on you!
However the background is a slight eyesore, but perhaps this kind of "black and white comic" styled background is what you were aiming for...
Once again a very nice piece, I can very much imagine this on a T shirt!

That is really good to hear. I decided recently for my warm up sketches to try to draw other people's characters as close to their style as possible but create my own poses. A very difficult task. Mickey is one of those deceptively simple characters. I drew many sketches of him trying to get it right. Luckily there are loads of old model sheets of him online. They usually even contain notes! Surprisingly, Goofy didn't take as many tries. Maybe because he really isn't perfect here. He's just so complex that it's hard to tell if something isn't placed correctly. Mickey has so few lines they all have to be in the right place or he just looks off.
As to the background...yeah it's shit. I really didn't intend to post this when I drew it. Then I thought, enh, it's kind'a funny. Why not?
