Description The trees are not mourning over their own deaths, they are mourning over yours. Do not kill which keeps you alive. After the death of the earth, there can never be a rebirth.

18"x24"
oil

8 hours.

i don't think anyone has noticed yet, or atleast no one has mentioned it, but there are buildings such as skyscrapers and smoke stacks in the background.

im sorry this took so long, its just that this painting never really seemed to attach itself to me like all my others, so i never really wanted to go back to it. but im glad it's done, my dad likes it

EDIT: i just HAD to remove those dust spots.

Yesterday I saw that a huge maple tree growing close to my house was cut. It was a maple of the kind which doesn't just grow up looking like a spire, its crown was big and broad. Every year in the Summer it was making the surrounding area look like covered with snow - a lot of white maple fluff was in the air, on the ground, on other trees, simply everywhere. All my childhood memories of playing outside the house are connected with this beautiful tree, everytime I recall my child's games I can see the tree standing somewhere in the background, giving shade to people tired with summer heat.
But now, where the tree used to stand, there is only a sad, flat shape of the giant tree trank, cut closely by the ground's surface. It looks so hopeless and painful, like a remorse, voiceless complaint saying: "Look, look at what they did to me!" And I feel awful because there is nothing I can do but crying. I feel like somebody cut my childhood with this tree, I don't recognize this place where I live anymore.

This is Incredible. I love it. I love the suttle changes. The description you gave was really neat. And I actually did notice the skyscrapers in the orangish tones. I thought it was very clever and not so apparent but still visable. I think it adds a great quality to the life.

it's actually rather tragic that no one seems to understand this concept. everything in life depends on the existence of everything else. yet we constantly strive to "weed out" unwanted/undesireable elements. we act with no thought to the future rammifications of our actions. it's only later that we want to go back and whine about how bad the situation has gotten. amamzing we've survived this long, isn't it?

it's a lovely and very striking work

however I don't think the buildings or the smokestacks are noticeable unless you explicitly tell us what they are; you may want to make them clearer

This is so beautiful and leaves me at a loss for words. Now that others have mentioned Ferngully, I totally agree! The skyscrapers in the background erfect...I wouldn't have ever thought of adding them and it shows how much thought you put into this. I don't think you needed anyone to tell you that though

P.S. The swing is my favourite part! It adds a certain softness to the overall painting.
