Description
The trees are not mourning over their own deaths, they are mourning over yours. Do not kill which keeps you alive. After the death of the earth, there can never be a rebirth.--------------
18"x24"
oil
8 hours.
i don't think anyone has noticed yet, or atleast no one has mentioned it, but there are buildings such as skyscrapers and smoke stacks in the background.
im sorry this took so long, its just that this painting never really seemed to attach itself to me like all my others, so i never really wanted to go back to it. but im glad it's done, my dad likes it
EDIT: i just HAD to remove those dust spots.

i noticed the skyscrapers and smokestacks at once, actually! It stood out because of the bright orange. At first I was like "okay.. it's some trees".. but then I noticed that background and it really struck me. Very nice painting.

it's very good, but the symbolism is too obvious...i think maybe you should have blended the middle in with the two opposites more completely, so it doesn't look like split-frame. i like the swing a lot.

I'm ridiculously, unbelievably jealous. Especially of the time frame. this is beautiful, beautiful work. Definitely deserves Daily Deviation, maybe even a devvie. And considering I just tore my hair out doing my Advanced Painting final, I am quite humbled by this piece. Wow.

sonne22,
I definitely noticed the buildings in the background. I was looking for something that gave it a "Human" aspect. I saw the trees and the gradient from dead to life but that didn't really drive it home for me. Once I saw the buildings that was it. Nice, it really conveys a sense of lost for both mankind and nature. Good work.

I really like this piece visually.
The use of colour is very interesting and well excecuted.
However, there is one thing about it that bothers me.
You showed the spray paint on the trees that had been cut down or were implyed to be "waiting" to be cut down. Now, either I don't know what they paint trees for where you come from, or else you don't know. The only time I've ever seen a tree painted and cut down is when it has a disease that can spread to other trees. We've had to have three trees cut down in my backyard for this reason. While it's unfortunate to cut the trees down, I really think it's better that than the alternative of a dead forest.

Congrats on your Daily Deviation! The contrast of life and death symbolized by nature is awesome, the use of industry on the death side and the representation of innocence as a little swing on the life side literally mademe drool. Maybe you weren't aimimng for that with the swing, but that's what came into mind. Awesome work, a must fav!

This is beautiful. I love the use of colour and the silhouettes of the trees against the sky. The painting is beautiful on it's own but the use of symbolism makes it even more special.
