Description
I know this character is in my previous update but this is a test to see how some new techniques I've picked up are going to work and fit together.I'm considering a return to animation you see.
The core work of this piece is mainly for myself.
Which is why the character cel used is just a lazy copy and paste from his design sheet.
I then decided to add it to DA with some psudo anime effects. Black bars, a TV channel watermark and fansubs! XD
I hope you like it and I'd really appreciate some feedback on what you think.

It worked out much better than I had originally anticipated.
Which has now pushed me forward into an actual animation of some kind based around this test. It's proving rather tough going. ^_^'
I used to animate all the time but took a long break.
Now I'm back and the challenge is great and refreshing!

I'm glad you like it in its imperfect state.
Even the background is unfinished. I'm painting the rest now.
But sometimes I get impatient when I want to try new things.

in my honest, it's a good attempt to make an pesudo anime screenshot. i think it might look better with some adjusting on the thinkness of the lines (just to make some of the lines distinguishable from the others). but other than that, it looks fairly convincing.

Yeah the "cell" itself is just pasted in from a design sheet so it's not actually optimised at all for any kind of animation.
I just used it to test some techniques that I've picked up in the past year.
Thinking about it I might have also gone a little overboard with the lighting and that obscures some of the line a little bit.
My next try will be better.
I wish there was more people like you on DA who comment.
Even if people think their critique is obvious it doesn't matter.
What they see I might have missed.
Everyone benifits from a little communication.

you might be more aware of the lighting techniques that you'll typically find in anime. but for the less detailed shows, aren't there like 3 shades for coloring (4 or 5 if you include shine)?

It really depends on the anime and what the director feels he can achieve in a shot in the time allowed.
The big bidget ones have more complicated levels of lighting but the low budget and/or old one have limited levels of lighting.
Me personally the only thing I'm really limited by is my current level of technology and skill.

No, at least not yet. ^_^
As it says in my description this piece is a personal excersie in working with layers and animating through Photoshop.
It's prep work for a possible animation in the near future.
