Description For the lovely 's contest.

I suppose you could argue that the Buddha isn't a god. |D

I wanted to colour this but I don't think I'll have time before the deadline. :-[ But since I may colour this in the future, I must ask that no one colour this in the meantime - this is not available lineart, got it? I mean, no one usually colours my stuff but I thought I'd make it clear.

Argh! I knew it would be /impossible/ to make these things symmetrical, but I never thought it would be so /difficult/!

This idea has been in the pipeline for months and is now completely unrecognisable from how it started in my head. Along the way, it's allowed me to test out some felt tip pens, digital re-touching methods (such a ****ing pain in the ***), and they were going to be cards, you know, like tarot, but they're probably a bit too intricate for card designs. =/

I'd really like to go into all the reasons why I drew certain things in certain ways but you must all be really bored of my nattering by now. And it'll be more fun for you to guess symbolism and stuff by yourselves.

You're amazing Suzu. I love the composition and fluidity of the figures.

Nah. I think they would make great tarot cards. That's what I thought when I saw this.

My first reaction when I saw this was "that's really cool but Buddha's not a god D:" and then I read your description. Now I'll just say, that's really cool. And yay for Latin.

WTF! This is amazing! Wow the connected symmetry is making my head explode. I can't even begin to imagine myself having the patience to do something like this. You totally deserve to win the contest.

Although, Buddha really isn't a god.

Thank you!

Yeah, but, you know, like Holdmybones said, Buddha's still something divine. |D

Oh wow, this is wonderful. The inking looks very professional and I love how you connected them all - they're a part of each other instead of being two separated images rotated around. Hah...and even if Buddha isn't a 'god' he's something divine so it's all good. It's nice to see Cupid not depicted as a chubby baby too, hehe.

Haha, I guess the digital touching up was worth it then. |D Thank you for your comments. :-] "A part of each other"... I like that. ^-^

Wow, that's beautiful! I'm always in awe about how many different styles you can pull off I mean that sincerely. You are so totally the cartoonist for the magazine. Yup. Rachel can eat my shorts.

Anyway, about the actual art, rather than magazine hierarchy... I think Cupid is my favourite. It's such a different and mould-breaking portrayal, he looks almost evil, perhaps, or at least vengeful and out for a laugh at the expense of humans (classic Greek god behaviour, right?) and the way his body fits together is really neat. I also like Buddha's legs, almost Escher-esque. And as soon as I saw 'Fortuna' I started singing Carmina Burana in my head. It's still going on... 'vellut luna... statu variabilis...' fun.

I wanted to show that love has a sucky side too, so yay. And same here - I think Carmina is just a catchy song. |D

Thank youuuuuuu.

you're welcome! of course, now Carmina is in my head again

I saw that this was available in the shop, so I had a look. And I saw you also had HAA. You know what I thought would be cool? The HAA strip on a mug! I know it's too tall on its own, so maybe each line by itself, on a mug. I think that would work really well, I'd buy it Although I'm not very impressed with dA's prints service - Julia ordered me a mug for my birthday but it never came it was so sweet as well. But that was just one time. Have you ever bought anything?

That sounds like a good idea - I'll think about it. :-]

I've never bought anything but yes, I've heard that the service isn't great. Though I think Duo has a dA print in her room... you could probably talk to her more about it.

ooh, I will. I've always wondered what the prints are like in the flesh. Or rather, in the cardboard and shiny stuff.

I totally love the card style and I know when you say it's difficult. I did a project like this before, and shit did I ever have a hard time x3

Great job though! The Buddha is wicked!
