Your plushies are beautiful~!
May I ask how you put on the Minky cutie marks? I don't have an embroidery machine, and I'm really curious about how to get them on without making it look bad.

Thanks, I'm happy that you like them!
Before I started using an embroidery machine I used fabric glue to attach the minky cutie marks. Just a thin layer underneath the minky then press and hold where you want it for a few seconds .Β

You're welcome~!
Ah okay, thank you! I was going to do that, but I was a little concerned with the fluff around the edges having some sort of problem. I had to paint my cutie mark with acrylics on felt and used fabric glue on that, but I like the minky better. C:

I don't remember any major problems with the fluff, just make sure to get all the loose fluff off the fabric before gluing it on. Minky works well since it's so thin too, it doesn't look or feel so raised on top of the fabric (I used felt for an AJ plush ages ago). I never made any complex cutie marks with minky, but for some small areas I used simple hand embroidery (for the bodies of the butterflies on Fluttershy) or satin stitching (for the shines of the bubbles on derpy).Β

Okay, I'll definitely have to try it! I was considering it since I want to make a Nightmare Moon, but I wasn't sure how to deal with all of those spots, and I didn't think an iron-on would work too well. So thanks a lot, now I know I had the right idea in the first place~!

She looks amazing, what transfer paper do you use for the eyes and how do you print them? They are so clear and shiny! They look plasticy rather than cheap paper ones you normally see.Β

I got the transfers from eBay. They are transfers for dark material that would usually be used for shirts. I don't have the link for them anymore but I went middle-ground when buying them, not too cheap but not the most expensive either.

By far... this is seriously the most gorgeous and most accurate Derpy plushie I've ever seen in my entire life!!!! She's soooo beautiful oh my gosh, the legs, the wings, the shape of her head and her mane.. Holy crap I'm in love with this plushie!Β Β Her rump is perfect too wow :'D I wish I knew how to make them like that. Aggh I wish I had money too! I would buy her in an instant ;u; Truly amazing plushie. You inspired me to make another Derpy, since I haven't been sewing for a long time. Thank you for that!Β

This is really beautiful! You got Derpy's expression spot on! You know, I think you should consider getting an embroidery machine. It would really put your already really nice ponies into really really great
Anyway fantastic job!

Thank you! A family member of mine has a local embroidery business, so there's a chance I may be able to do embroidery through her until I can get my own machine . Are they difficult to use? It looks a bit daunting xD.Β

Oh that's neat!
They actually aren't tat hard! All you need are the correct files for the eyes or cutie marks and upload it to the machine through usb. The rest is just putting in the colors in the order it tells you If you decide to, I recommend getting a few embroidery files off etsy before you decide on what program you'd like to make your own files, so you can get the hang of it
You can usually get a file of etsy for about $2, so not bad

I'll keep that in mind! If you don't mind me asking, is it difficult getting the eyes to look even when sewing the head together? On every plush I've made the eyes get put on after the head is stuffed.
Even after lots of pinning I can imagine turning the head inside-out then realising one eye is completely off >.<. Although that might just be me worrying too much .

Sophillia In reply to SophiesPlushies [2014-06-06 21:27:39 +0000 UTC]
I was worried about that when I. Started too, but actually it isn't that hard as long as you are careful once I cut out one side of the head, I overlay that piece on top of the other embroidery (so that the eyes match up) and cut around the top piece. That way both sides will have the eyes in the same spot. So long as you are fairly neat in your sewing, and it looks like you are, they'll line up
