I have only seen this type of moth twice in my lifetime, as luck would have it I had my camera on me on the latter of the two times.
The first time was when I was just a kid and I thought that I saw a baby hummingbird or a funny looking bumble bee who could fly backwards, which I found from doing research on them that many people make the same mistake.
Unlike most moths, these feed during the daytime and at dusk and mimic the movements and flight of a hummingbird. They truely are a hummingbird look-a-like but unlike hummingbirds they will allow you to get close to them without flying off to a safer distance.
This one even flew through my legs in search of more nectur while I tried to snap a few pics. It was moving so fast that I had a hard time focusing on it so out of a couple dozen shot I did get a few nice ones. I'll be posting them later after I adjust the levels and crop them.
