Beautiful creatures. I love birds of prey as I see, so do you. This is a superb shot. Dang it looks like he/she was posing for this one...it's simply very well taken. I am assuming you have a big Zoom thingy to get so up close and personal?

I love the expression too (if owls have expressions lol)

Great work my friend.

Yes , I used a 300mm telephoto lens...Thanks for the comment, I forgot to put up the EXIF output from my camera up so I posted it now above with that info.
Being disabled doesn't afford me the luxury of going out that much to capture photos like I would like to.
I only wish I would have gotten into Photography more seriously sooner before my disabilities hampered my abilities because I have seen some awesome things that I would have loved to share, unfortunately those snapshots are only in memory.
I'm very fortunate in the fact of were I live, This state is a nature Mecca with lakes and rivers everywhere you go, I believe that you can find a stream or river or lake within 6 miles of anywhere you stand in the state of Michigan, We are the Largest Natural Fresh Water Region in the World.
Along with all that fresh water Nature is busting at the seams with wildlife of every sort.
As a matter of fact just 2 blocks down the road from where I live they reported in our local Newspaper that there has been 2 different Cougar track sightings along with the remains of a dead dear. (see article [link] )
This excites me and has given me an opportunity that I am going to try to pursue in locating more tracks or possibly even a photo of one. These animals are listed Extinct from our state since 1906, a full grown cougar is 9 feet long and weighs close to 200 lbs.
With a sighting only a couple country blocks away, I'm stoked! A picture of one of these animals in this area would bring in a few dollars I'm sure not to mention what it means for the documentation of their existence in this area.
But my disabilities will once again hamper most of my ambitions on how far I can walk and what equipment I can carry. OH Well no one said life was fair, I hurt there for I am!

It sounds like paradise. I do know what it is like to live surrounded by nature as I grew up in South Africa, though I lived in a big City (Pretoria) the wild bush and game reserves were never very far away. Your Cougar story reminds me when I was 16 and a leopard was sighted in my's schools vicinity. He he he. They eventually found the leopard a few weeks later....and caught it alive. This was a pretty heavy populated are and alot of people were pretty uneasy....

I am sorry to hear that you have a disabilty and that it is limiting your "Cougar hunt" Are you able to run? What if you find the cougar and it decides to have a little snack? Be careful dude.
