Description
My first photography encounter with a LambBeen planning for a while to photograph sheeps/Lambs, and i finally got around to it. After crawling around on the ground for a while feeding them and trying to not get to afraid by the protective mothers i finally saw the shot i was searching for. A little lamb had wandered of and was looking at us with a magical gaze in his eyes.
Technical aspect: I used spot metering on the Lamb to get a strong exposure on him and to underexpose the background.
some areas a whiter then others due to mud and dirt, but after 3 shots the camera got the exposure i was looking for.
Some of the Lamb got partially darken, so i did some shadow recovery and grain removal in photoshop. where i also converted the image to B/W and added a very mild tone. Some selective mild sharpen and lighten.
* Please share your technical info like i did here, that way we can learn more by looking at images*
Thats it, any questions or feedback is welcome

did you add the vignette feel to it, by darkening the edges? Was there light shining directly on him, he really seems to pop out... To me it seems like you really got the emotion of him..

mhm, that is correct, i used the vignette filter in CS2 and i dodged the sheep to lighten the middle. It was a low light condition, so i had to rescue some light using shadow/highlight to.

Ok, thanks. I'm always curious how much people dodge / burn / sharpen / saturate, etc. Trying to make myself not feel guilty for doing a bit of the same...

It's interesting the way its stillness and forward gaze makes it look a bit surreal.

Beautiful shot. It's so simple and perfect. Obviously, simple isn't always simple to accomplish.

What amazing contrast. Typically a good compliment to a drawing is that it "looks like a photo" but in this case, your amazing photo "looks like a drawing" in the best possible way.

I love lambs! But, yes, the mothers can be feisty! Great shot. I wouldn't have guessed that there was selective sharpening or lightening.

Wow, your technical info went right over my head. I really need to get on the ball. lol. Great job. I think it turned out perfectly. And btw, I messed around with curves in my latest deviation and it went good. But I made the photo b & w, so I dont think you can really tell, but if you could see the original photo, wow, you would see a huge difference! thanks for your advice, I will be using it further with a color photo soon.
