Sortvind In reply to Bandit83 [2008-05-27 15:02:53 +0000 UTC]

Thank you I used a canon 100mm F2,8 Macro lens for this one, thats the lens i use for all my macros/close-ups.

thank you. in the next weeks i have to decide what i buy. a macro or tele lens. it's a hard decision for me.

Sortvind In reply to Bandit83 [2008-05-27 18:19:38 +0000 UTC]

I see, well, it depends on what type of photographing you like the most. Might be hard, but what do you usually take photos of?
Personally i find a wide angel much better then a Tele, thats because i don`t do much bird/animal shots that requires 200+mm.
Based on your gallery it seems like you like to get close to subjects, i think you could do great creative work with a macro, though, you might as well do even better with a Tele

Bandit83 In reply to Sortvind [2008-05-27 22:29:26 +0000 UTC]

i planed to buy both. the question is what i buy first. but i tend to the tele lens, cause i want to travel around in my province this summer. a lot of animal shots, landscapes, castles,...
thank you for your tip. and many thanks for your look through my gallery. i really appreciate it.

Noen kan se det som bare dekorasjon, pent Γ₯ se pΓ₯, andre kan begynne Γ₯ la tankene spinne rundt dette bildet. Jeg faller innenfor andre gruppen. Mh. Fantastisk.

Wow thats simply amazing Oo
How did you get this reflection so clear?

You really get the impression that you would look through someone else eyes cos the focus is on the reflection and not on the eye..

What post processing have you done with this one?

ah and before I forget :

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sortvind In reply to Toothrot [2008-05-26 19:26:35 +0000 UTC]

Thank you

I set the focus to M ( manual ) and the shutter speed to 1/200 to avoid to much camera movement blur. everything under 1/200 can be risky.

Contrast adjustments using curves and layer masks to paint away or inn the adjustment. B/W conversion and mild toning using color balance.

Toothrot In reply to Sortvind [2008-05-26 21:14:10 +0000 UTC]

Thats funny how some things in camera technique are getting worse in time

I usually use the Canon FT QL of my grandpa from 1966, which is a almost full manual film SLR and with this Canon I can use up to 1/60 if I concentrate on not moving.
I think thats the problem of the tiny camera cases.
With my little camera I have to have at least 1/125 because when I press the button down I shake the complete camera..

thanks for sharing you're knowledge about postmanip with me

Wow, i would love to try an old canon! Yes, i am glad the macro lens i use has USM.
I think it is important to share tips and tricks, we can all learn from each other.

Toothrot In reply to Sortvind [2008-06-01 22:01:19 +0000 UTC]

Working with that old cameras is a very interesting thing..
at the moment I'm thinking about buying a Pentax MX which is almost the same like the canon but smaller and I can use all those pentax k objectives we have at home..
The Canon FT is really heavy i weighted it.. the body + 50mm objective + 135mm objective = 1.8kg
you could train with that

That shot is AMAZING: I SO love the colours, I think there are so many emotions in this picture, just because it has this special COLOUR and the angle you used to shot it is – fantastic!
Woah, I’m blown away. That one is pure love. Keep up the great, great work!
