Their biggest regret is never learning how to fly at a young age, now that they are older its becoming harder and harder to gain enough confidence to try to learn or ask for help.

Splish, splash. The sounds of other, happy Masquelines could be heard as they made their clattering-tongue noises in order to communicate with each other as they dived into a large lake to go swim. It was one of their favorite things to do, after all since they were what the others referred to as, "the fish Masquelines." Though very few possessed such DNA, they have been rumored to swim just like a fish and can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes! It is for these very reasons that they have been nicknamed the "fish" or water Masquelines.
All but 1 Masqueline went into the water. He had shaggy, black hair and his skin radiated a dull blue. Not enough to blind anyone but just enough for someone to feel it. Erik sat by the shore and listened as the last Masqueline dived into the water. He let out a soft sigh before laying down and waiting for them to return. He longingly listened to the water splash against the cool, hard rock as he wished that he could be like the other water Masquelines. Oh so badly he wanted to swim like the rest of them and fit in but alas...
Erik, a Masqueline who was born, and shaped like the rest of the water Masquelines, had a fear of swimming.
It was subtle at first. When he was little he could dip his feet into the cool water and would go up to knee-length like the rest of the kids. He even splashed some of them with his tail playfully and had fun! He quickly became one of the popular water Masquelines, for they were sure that he was built to be one of their best swimmers.
One day though, a few other jealous Masquelines decided to play an awful prank on him. They waited until he was alone, listening and admiring the lake before they all pounced on him and shoved him into the water!
Usually the adults slowly transitioned the kits into swimming in deep water since they can't really see huge waves, and trained them to hold their breath for as long as they could. It was highly cautioned not to swim without an adult, for fear of drowning.
Erik did just that.
He panicked and let out cries of help as the others ran away, scared after realizing what they had done was horrible.
But nobody came.
All Erik could feel was the water slowly swallowing him up around him as he started to sink down into the deep lake.
Then all of a sudden, a bright orange Masqueline spotted the mysteriously glowing object and dived into it curiously to find that it was Erik! She saved him and brought him back to shore.
Ever since then, Erik has been petrified of swimming and refuses to do so despite what the others may say. It has led to a lot of jeering and other kits making fun of him for being a "scaredy catfish." He now never smiles due to his self esteem being low and constantly feeling like he is useless and can't help out his fellow friends with hunting fish, a thing they primarily do in order to survive. He does smile occasionally when he goes to visit the other Masquelines in other regions, though.

im naming him Eos now. It's a star based name I believe and it seems to fit him better. ^^
so just ignore the Erik parts and replace it with Eos lol thank you
