Description
Well, like I asked, and an overwhelming majority responded, I will be releasing basic primer sheets on some of the major organizations in the "Mother Maiden" AU in the lead-up to the OC Contest. For a start, here are the Pathfinders, the military arm of the New Path organization: shown are as follows:
Pathfinders:
The Core of the New Path, these began life as the party’s military arm, often doing battle in the streets with the armed bands of the other political parties. Made up of Ex-Military personnel, dispossessed Faunus, refugees from the other kingdoms and Huntsman converts, this group came to be the face of the party to the people of Atlas, who saw them as saviors, bringing order to the chaos following the Atlesian revolution and depression.
Over time, the organization grew, which led it to spread off into smaller organizations within the larger Pathfinders:
Combat division “Rangers”: the security force of the Pathfinders, these served as civil police forces and enforcers, breaking up other political party meetings and rescuing oppressed Faunus, particularly after the New Path took control of Atlas. These would form the core of the reformed Atlas armed forces when Butler began rebuilding the military.
Air division “Navigators”
Responsible for maintaining and operating the New Path’s air arm, and later the core of the new Atlas Air Corps and Navy, manning and commanding the new battleships of the reformed Atlas fleet, as well as the transports and fighter ships.
Armor Division “Trailblazers”
Responsible for the maintaining and crewing the New Path’s armored forces, both Great-War era Land Dreadnaught “Tanks” and new-model Paladins. These would spearhead the assault on Vale after the 2nd Great War breaks out 20 years after the Fall of Beacon.
Science division “Cartographers”
Responsible for scientific development of new technologies, Restoring the old Great War weaponry needed to rapidly equip the new Atlas armed forces, as well as adapting confiscated Huntsman weaponry for common use. It would be this division that would make the breakthrough development of the “Sunbeam” Dust-free power supply, enabling the development of orbital satellites for communications and surveillance. It would also be this division that would create the Magnetic Beam Emitter (MBE), developed from a design created by Jaune Arc, Jr., who served with the unit.

Another good example of uniforms, with very useful commentary. Thanks.

So are these guys the regular army or special forces?

I think the Waffen SS is the best comparison: the Atlas army still exists, as does the Navy, but these guys are the front-line troops of the New Path itself.

Pretty cool, though the names are a bit on the cheesy side, I get that Butler's trying to stick to a theme but this is just comedic.

I'm really digging that Trailblazer jacket. Makes me feel cozy just looking at it.
Though if I were make one change to any of their gear/uniforms, it'd probably be changing the navigator's number of breathing tubes from two to one for simplicity; Then again, I like the current helmet mask so much I hate to see it downgraded to resemble the cookie-cutter breathing mask with only one tube running down from the nose. I guess a good compromise would be that the Navigators' masks actually require only one tube, and that the tube can be swapped from left to right and vice versa based on wearer's preference. Though is it just me, or am I seeing a bit of Zeon on his uniform collar?
I'd like to pitch an idea to you: how about coming up with nicknames that divisions use to make fun of one another?
For instance, the Cartographers are given the moniker of "toy-hoarders" since they seem to get all the old Great War and confiscated Huntsman weaponry first before everyone else and decide what other divisions get them first and how much as they see fit. Another example would be the Rangers being dubbed "party-crashers" or "buzzkills" since their role also seems to encompass policing the Pathfinders' own ranks. In response, the Rangers call the regular Pathfinders the "path-losers" or "wrath-finders," with the former being a joke of how that the Pathfinders would fall into anarchy without their guidance and the latter joking how the Pathfinders seem to always get into trouble, piss off everybody, and make the rest of the New Path look bad.
Conversely, they also have nicknames for themselves. For instance, Trailblazers call themselves "path-makers" or "the real pathfinders," as their vehicles allow them to simple smash their own path through obstacles and they act as a dig towards the nothing-wrong-with-using-our-own-two-feet Pathfinder plebs. And then there's the Navigators, who dub themselves "the glorious flying master race," and jokingly look down on everyone else as lowly ground-dwelling peasants.
