I really enjoy some of the new environments available at Daz. However, sometimes the geometry is a bit... excessive... I first realized there was an issue when I added collision to the couch in order to get some "weight" deformations from the model. Daz stopped and then crashed. I tried two more times, had two more crashes. Every time the log effectively said "out of memory." Finally, I checked the polys through "lit wireframe" mode and the couch was so dense it was black.

The couch in this image has been almost entirely re-worked in Maya. I removed millions of polys by removing the original cushions and reworking the frame.

I then took the new frame into Marvelous Designer and rebuilt the cushions. This took a bit of time, but was well worth the effort. Got a solid "drape" on the cushions that accurately reflected the model's weight and froze the cushion cloth. From there, I designed the dress and did the drape.
