Gentle: Despite everything that happened to her, Blue never became bitter or cruel toward the world. She managed to keep her gentle nature and shows it through caring for every animal on the farm. She hardly ever barks or nips to get her herds moving and has been the foster mother of more than one clutch of chickens.

Patient: Blue seems to have endless patience and can out-wait even the most taciturn creature. She never becomes snappish or frustrated (at least outwardly). She often uses this to her advantage to force others to tell her the whole truth--sometimes silence is the best weapon.

Stubborn and Diligent: When Blue sets her mind to a task, she'll see it through no matter what. She sees her new life as a blessing and will do anything and everything to prove she deserves it. Working tirelessly through any weather often worries her owners and she is sometimes put on 'bed rest' inside the house. Blue resents this and bursts through the door and goes back to work the moment she's allowed.

Energetic: Having spent most of her life chained in a kennel 24/7, Blue has a bit of excess energy. She can, and will, go until she drops. Literally. There have been times when her people have been out searching for her and found her passed out in the grass somewhere. She can't handle standing still and needs to be doing something at any time. If she's forced to relax and stay in one place she quickly becomes anxious and will begin frothing at the mouth and whining, even over grooming herself to the point of leaving bald patches and abrasions on her body.

Loving: Blue loves with her whole heart. She never does anything half way and will jump through hoops for those she cares about. She loves easily and deeply which unfortunately leads to her being hurt easily. Thankfully she's very tough and bounces back from heart ache with a purpose. Though she hasn't admitted to anyone, even herself, she longs for pups of her own. She's lost count of how many puppies she was forced to birth and give away and will forever feel guilty for not doing more to keep them. Eventually she stopped even bothering to name them. But now that she sees what life is supposed to be she longs for a permanent mate of her choosing and pups that she can suckle and raise and love.

Loyal: When she was first brought to the farm all she wanted to do was escape. But as days turned into weeks and she was given nothing but kindness and affection she began to strive for freedom less and less. When the opportunity finally presented itself she bolted. But before she could even go more than 50yds she'd stopped and turned right back. Her humans had saved her life and she was going to stay with them until her last breath. Now she extends this to just about anyone that shows her kindness and compassion.

Shy: Blue is the only dog on her large farm and secretly prefers it that way. She becomes anxious around other dogs, especially males. Eventually she will relax around dogs but it takes her time. Sometimes this can come off as her being standoffish when she meets new dogs and is cold toward them. She doesn't mean to be cold, she's desperately trying to hide her anxiety and not start panicking.

Claustrophobic: Blue is deathly afraid of closed-in spaces. She can't handle crates and even becomes nervous in small rooms and cars. In her earlier days on the farm she couldn't even stand being leashed and would go into desperate panic trying to get away, nearly choking herself to death in the process. Her humans realized this and have given her free rein of the farm and house and limit car rides to an absolute minimum.

Proud: During her ordeal in the puppy mill Blue hated herself and believed she was a disgusting creature that didn't deserve to live. She felt used and dirty and broken and just wanted it all to end. Since her rescue she has slowly been rebuilding her confidence and self esteem, piece by piece. This has made her very defensive of herself and her body. The only time she will lash out is if she is touched without her consent and becomes disgusted with whoever dare breach her security.

Independent: Blue hates needing to rely on others or asking for help. Now that she's decided to really live her life, she wants to do it on her own terms. She resents others thinking she's weak for any reason and will prove herself capable of anything thrown her way.

PreGroup History: Blue was the product of a well planned out and very expensive breeding between two high-end show dogs. Though her parents weren’t necessarily in love and their joining wasn’t one of romance, they were very close and wanted to raise their pups together in a loving home. Blue and her siblings were to be groomed into prize winning show dogs like their parents before being sold for the prettiest penny. Blue remembers a very comfortable life as a pup and never wanted for anything. Unfortunately everything would change when she was old enough to be sold to a new home. The idea was exciting but also made her very anxious. This was the only life she had ever known. One by one her siblings were sold until she was left with just her parents. Reluctantly her owners lowered her asking price and finally found an interested buyer. The man conned Blue’s owners and quickly disappeared before any authorities could apprehend him.

Blue was brought to an old home out in the country where she was just one of many, many dogs. Confused and scared she tried to leave but was only chained into her pen. Here, one by one, different males were brought in and bred to her. Blue lived in an endless nightmare of forced mating and then the pain of birthing puppies, over and over again. As if this was not horrible enough, her puppies were taken from her before their eyes were even open and she never saw them again. This miserable life went on for years until finally she was saved when her puppy mill was raided.

From there she was brought to a pound where she thought she’d live the rest of her life. She was disconsolate and depressed, never eating or moving to greet the lines of people that wandered by her kennel. But one day she was brought out and given to two humans she had never seen before. She was placed gently in their car and taken to her new life.

The people who adopted her were very wealthy and eccentric. They’d lived in a city their whole lives and finally wanted to live out their dream of living on a farm and moved to Canidale. They purchased a beautiful, sizeable property and began attempting to live as farmers. They saw Blue at the pound and knew they had to have her. Slowly and carefully they rehabilitated her with love and attention. Eventually she was given free run of the farm. Blue began eating again and even playing with her humans. Not knowing what to do with their money, and being a little out-of-the-ordinary, her humans purchased countless animals to stock their farm with. The normal horses, sheep, pigs, geese…and then the abnormal bison, guinea pigs, llamas, and a kangaroo. Blue was placed in charge of this menagerie and took to it beautifully. She’s put the past behind her and is determined to live the rest of her life on her terms.

-Blue didn't have a name before she was rescued, the name obviously being given by her humans.
-Blue has had a lot of puppies and her body has been affected by them. She is self conscious about this and is thankful her long fur hides anything that could be potentially embarrassing.
-Her humans THINK she is spayed. A mix-up at the pound concerning some paperwork has kept Blue intact.
-Blue has pretty severe PTSD. She goes into extreme panic attacks if something triggers her and it can take quite a while to calm her back down.
