Description A little drawing with an Anglo-Saxon lyre, a medieval stringed instrument played by plucking individual strings or using a technique called "block and strum" where select strings are muted by the fingers to create chords when the strings are strummed.

Wow, thank you. Growth will probably be very slow, but I am having fun here sharing my interests in anthro art and history.

Is that Taliesin himself I see? Or have we landed a century (or three) after he swept half of England right off their paws?

Haha. No Welsh poet here. The dimensions and style of this lyre is from a later period.

Figures, thought something looked a bit overly technical. He might be a legend now, but in his own time Taliesin probably compared more to a rural busker than any other sort of modern artist.
Also, know Wales was a bit of a holdout for much of the conquest, and so Taliesin was unlikely to be involved - but never seen the guy rendered as anthro before, so wanted to believe.

Love the design of the clothes here, and the accessories as well - the lyre is especially crisp (indeed, rather wish I could draw the base shape of an instrument this well). However, the perspective on the rock is a bit peculiar - looks like a flat profile at the bottom, especially when the perspective on the lady's boots next to it is very well done. Also, faces could use some work... or actually, maybe not. Normally females tend to have shorter and less robust snouts, but looking closer at her colouring, general shape and especially her tail, it seems she's a pinscher - if so, that's not only appropriate, but a canine anthro you don't see every day.
Got to say I'm pleasantly surprised, and for more than one reason. Anthros with instruments usually come in 13 a dozen - painting one right now, and probably going to reconsider some of the ideas in it after seeing this - but anthro medieval romance is something I didn't expect to see when I woke up today.

Good point about the stone. The lyre is a simple shape so I was able to draw it cleaner. I used a lyre I built a couple years ago as my model. I'm looking forward to seeing the painting you are working on if you post it.

Wait, you've built one of these things? And it works?
That's... more than just a little impressive. Been reenacting for nearly 20 years, and don't know anyone who's built a working stringed instrument. Unless you count crossbows, I guess.
If it's in good condition and you can get a nice shot, might be an idea to post it. It'd fit right in and might be a really valuable addition.

The construction is very simple. Mostly a box with strings. Mine isnt very pretty but was built in period style and is functional. I want to build a Gue next for a challenge.

Still very impressive, and if it isn't very pretty, no matter - if it doesn't work and doesn't look authentic no prettiness would make up for it, but it does.

Had to look up the gue, and this sounds like a challenge indeed. Like the musical equivalent of trying to breed a destrier today.
Good luck.
