I see you used a little cell shade. I think this make a more pleasant perspective, and strengthens the basic good lines.

Thank you. Shading is something I need to practice and work on but good to add since it add just a little more dimension. Due to the limitations of the phone app I use to draw, I think cell shading is what I will be limited to for now, but I think it's appropriate for my current style and skill level. Onward and ever upward!

I think, you only need to develop if you feel you want to develop. Many people think that, the line art so easy and simple... Of course not. When i drew my characters in similar style (wihtout colors... because i didn't know the colors and shade). I learned so hard that, this is not easy, mostly if you want something realistic and good-looking something.
I never wanted to mocking you. Or saying negative something... On the contrary. I impressed your "medieval castle painting" style.
When i met first your gallery, immediately I reminds me of similar pictures: Pic1 , Pic2 , Pic3 , Pic4 , Pic5 , and similar to these. Just in modern version. ^.^

I didn't think you were mocking. I was just explaining some of the technical limitations I have to do more sophisticated shading techniques. It's funny that my style leans into an illuminated manuscript style since I am trained as a medievalist with my degrees.

Yes, Redwall was probably an influence from my childhood.
Glad to give you knowedge of the term "illuminated manuscript". That term will be useful if you ever need to look for medieval art for references. Also look up the Morgan Bible for some great examples of medieval art in a mid period style.

The medieval era is always interesting, whatever it is, the art or everyday life. My language rather use the "codex" or "mosaic" expressions.
One of my friend worked in a castle. This castle in my town a main spectacle. Sometimes i helped for him, and played archer and everyday people in the Castle Games day. : ) Was a little cosplay.
Many people think that the medieval people were silly/foolish and ignorant... But if someone read about this, or live, do and use that what they used every day... Anyone can easily find that this statement is incorrect.
Okay... the medieval people didn't know many things... But now, we neither doesn't know many things... Plus, they were more closer the animals and earth... Maybe to each other (toward each other), too.
