Description
Continued from:June 20th, 1955
The Kremlin, Moscow U.S.S.R.
That it had come to this. The "Iron Man" of Russia sat behind his desk a broken man. His right hand shook uncontrollably and he looked as if he were far older than he was. His empire, the greatest super-power the world had ever known was in shambles. The invaders had come and ravaged every major city and killed millions of his people with only a single exceptional farm-girl as resistance. All of his generals and soldiers had failed him. All of his mighty tanks, planes and vessels of war had failed him. The scientists, who lied to him and had told him that the chances of anything coming from outer space were a million to one and that the German's had not had extra-terrestrial assistance, had failed him. Even with all of her powers and abilities, even Olga had failed him in the end. He looked up at her with his steel-gray eyes. She was looking out the window at the carnage in the streets. The building shook as blasts of super-heated energy slammed into the once proud capital of the Soviet Union over and over again. Enemy fighters dove down and strafed the fleeing soldiers and civilians alike. The powerfully muscled amazon bit her lip, shifting her position for one foot to the other. Her hands clenched into fists and tears began to form at the corners of her eyes. Stalin could sense how badly she wanted to help those people. She would never understand that they were beyond hope. If the Soviet Union was to survive, he would have to survive it.
Of late the aliens had attempted a new tactic: assassination. Reports had come in the last day or so of teams of the invaders tracking down and killing the leaders of several nations, their deaths further demoralizing the populace and breaking any further resistance down into chaos. Chairman Mao of China was the first to fall in his underground bunker, followed by St. Laurent in Canada, Stalin's old friend Khrushchev fell in Paris leading the resistance and finally Sir Winston Churchill in London. It was a pity that he had not yet heard whether or not American President McCarthy was dead or not. Such a thing might have even made him smile despite himself and everything around him. Stalin straightened his uniform and kept his eyes on Olga. They would come for him in the end and they would find him not quite as easy a mark as those other men. An American assassin had tried to kill him several years back and managed to fire a round into him before Olga defeated and killed the man. He hoped that she would not give these aliens the same opportunity. The event still bothered him and even now he rolled it over in his mind. Did she perhaps want the power he held after all? How else was it that she let a single bullet rip into his body? Was she resentful of the station he held? Did she hide her ambition behind a mask of hero-worship and naivety?
He studied her expression, her stance, the way her eyes followed the terrible destruction outside. Those same ice-blue eyes met his for a moment. Stalin held his breath. She was beautiful...incredibly beautiful. She had been only but a girl when he had first taken her into his confidence and now here she stood a full-grown woman. His eyes traced across her full lips and down her neckline. Olga tried to smile at him, a strange gesture in lieu of what was going on all around them. In spite of his better judgement and his growing suspicions of her, he did desire her and perhaps she him. Maybe it was more than a mere childhood crush that she held and her hero-worship was genuine despite his worries. He wanted to think it was so.
"Comrade Stalin, it will be alright." she said, nodding her head up and down. "I will not let them assassinate you, but can I not convince you to let me escape somewhere with you."
"Nyet Olga. My place is here, in the Kremlin. I will not let the people of the Soviet Union think I have abandoned them." he said after a moment's thought.
"This was the same foolishness that made it so easy for us to capture Hitler. Please think about what you are doing. You could do much more good from a protective bunker somewhere. The people will understand. They want to hear your voice to inspire them!"
Stalin took a moment before nodding his approval. Sounds outside his office doors pulled both of their attention away. The sound of automatic gunfire followed by blasts of energy and screams. The aliens were here and making their way towards their quarry, cutting down the last of his bodyguard. Heavy footsteps crunched over broken glass and red carpet in the hallways outside. Stalin stood up and took a few steps backwards. His nerves were finally beginning to fail him. Olga stood watching the door, her nostrils breathing quicker. All of her incredible muscles were tensed, ready for whatever came through that door.
"They are coming Olga." The Soviet Premiere said in a low voice. "It is too late."
"You are like a father to me...I will not let them hurt you." came her quiet reply.
Seconds later the frame and door exploded in a flash of light and a shower of splinters. Joseph Stalin shielded his eyes from the blast but the Soviet Superwoman did not look away. Stepping through the flames they finally came face to face with the invaders. The aliens looked like all the worst combinations of a great reptile and an insect. They wore bulky spacesuit fitted with domes, clear helmets apparently so they could breath in the Earth's hostile environment. In their hands they held large, rifle-like weapons with either a huge jutting bayonet or power amplifier on the end. The first one through the entrance opened it's mouth full of jagged, irregular teeth and spoke. The noises that came forth were a series of guttural clicks and high-pitched barking sounds. Olga didn't have a clue what it had said, but the two or three in the hallway halted their advance. Perhaps the creature recognized her and what she was capable of. It studied her with it's beady, red eyes slit sideways with a yellow and black slash for a pupil. Then it looked over at Stalin, standing beside his desk, his mouth hanging open in horror and disgust. The creature clicked and barked a second time, motioning towards the Soviet leader. He raised his weapon and immediately it began to surge and power up with some kind of crackling blue energy. Olga only had a split second, her eyes widening.
The Soviet Superwoman rushed forwards at dizzying speeds, slamming into the side of the alien being and sending him crashing out the window of Stalin's office to fall five stories to the street below. She wheeled on the other creatures as they raised their weapons and began to power them up as well. Beams of concentrated red light shot forth from her eyes and punched through the helmet of the nearest one. Olga turned her head sharply to the left, ripping the beam across the creature's face, out the side and continuing through the helmet and skull of the next one. For all their advanced technology they were still soft, "regular" beings, no different than the criminals she had apprehended and the German forces that she had fought more than a decade earlier. As the two aliens dropped, their blood a strange mixture of turquoise, the last alien assassin fired off a series of blasts not at Stalin but at her. The first shot slammed into her chest like a rocket and took the wind out of her. Olga staggered backward with a sizzling hole opening up in her costume, her impervious flesh seared an angry shade of red. The second blast punched her out the already shattered window. The creature rushed forward and looked outside. Olga had landed in the street near where it's commander had come down, his brains smashed like jelly inside his fractured helmet. The super-power woman was struggling to get to her feet, holding her arms tight across her chest. The alien muttered something in it's bizarre language and turned back towards Stalin.
What it saw was the barrel of a makarov pistol pressed against the side of it's helmet. Stalin depressed the trigger on the semi-automatic weapon eight times, emptying the clip before it had time to make another sound. The helmet held for the first few shots before exploding outwards. The last several bullets blew through it's face and head. The alien assassin pitched over backwards twitching and convulsing in it's death throes. Stalin stood there with his face grim and set, spattered with it's blood and brains. The Soviet Superwoman flew back up through the window. The look on her face went from one of terror to one of exhilaration.
"Comrade Stalin! Come on we have to get you out of here now!" she said pleading with him. "Your death here will mean nothing!"
Stalin was not in a position to argue with her.
To be continued...

The tension of Stalin is the strongest part of this text. I found myself more captivated by the doubts swirling in his mind. Allusions of Alexander the Great of Macedonia.
What is also telling for me is...and yes, I know Olga is a woman...but she is so childlike too. She didn't really have a childhood, so moments like this, where she's giving her surrogate a soft smile of reassurance, is a testament of her blissful ignorance and adorable naivete.

I wonder how Olga feels now, knowing she defended a mass murderer responsible for the deaths so many innocent people?
Or is this supposed to prove Comrade Stalin wasn't such a bad guy after all?
Or is this an alternate reality where Stalin actually WAS a good guy?

We here in Russia still have massive discussions on the past of the Soviet Union, and you there far away better don't try to get into, because you'll be buried under the tons of facts that protect many theories (not only infantile "was Stalin a bad guy or a good one").

"and you there far away better don't try to get into, because you'll be buried under the tons of facts that protect many theories "
Don't use my distance from Russia to prove to me how wrong I am, that shit's for babies and beginners. I live here in America and you live there far away in Russia, so maybe you "better don't try to get into" with me about my country.
See, two can play that game, soldier.

Dear not-a-babe, I was talking about you but spoke no word about your country. Instead, you're trying to speak about my country and about matters that you haven't enough knowledge of. I repeat, the words "Stalin is a mass murderer" reflects a quite limited knowledge of a speaker.

Just try to understand, that there was a pool of leaders that potentially could gain power. And there just weren't some downy and soft leader. And yes, I think that Stalin was a much better variant that time than e.g. Trotsky (who was much more cruel than many others).
BTW, Stalin has stopped financing of foreign communistic parties and reduced the Comintern to the level of the anti-fascist organization. Most other potential leaders, including mr. Trotsky, were fanatics of world-wide revolution. And did you know that all that _real_ executioners - Yagoda, Yezhov, Eihe, Postyshev - all were trotskists?
You want to talk about that time? OK, let's talk, over e-mail or an IM. This forum is not a place for talks like that.

Ah this is one of the big mysteries with her origin...maybe the biggest. They are from an alternate earth history so she doesn't truly know if he was the benevolent father figure she remembers or if he was really a cold-hearted despot like the one on the earth she now resides on.
