Description V-57 series of automatic rifles was developed by an upstart Irish weapon manufacturer Stingray Armaments in early 2030s. Shortly after its tests were finalized an ex-employee of Stingray Arms leaked the schematics to the Internet. Since the design was made to be easy to manufacture while reliable in field conditions and allowing for modularity, soon unlicensed copies begin to appear all over the world. Unable, or perhaps also unwilling to stem the tide, Stingray Arms dropped all patent claims and just allowed things to be, while also securing its market niche in supplying these quickly gained fame rifles to European countries' national military forces.
So V-57 become for the 2030s onwards what AR15 rifles were for late 20-th - early 21st century - ubiquitous and reliable weapon system.
V-57A is an select-fire, magazine fed, air cooled, gas operated rifle, with variants chambered in 7.62x45mm EU standard; 5.56x45mm; 6,8x43mm; 6x39mm Grendel; 7,62x39mm; 5,45x39mm; 7,62x51mm and some other rounds.
Depending on caliber, this rifle's mass depending on the caliber of particular specimen is usually 3,3-3,6 kg with empty magazine inserted.
