Description Not the first custom that I did (it's actually the second repaint that I've done), but it's the first one that I'm making public.

A work in progress of one of the Transformers customs that I'm working on. I think it's safe to say that I wasn't the only one who hated the Sideways toy when we first saw product shots of it. Some simple repainting did the trick.

Used Citadel Paints to work on this custom. Chaos Black, Mithral Silver, and Blood Red were the only paint that I used. At first, I went with straight Mithral Silver for the robot bits since I wanted him to have a "clean" look, but it just wasn't working out for me so... I did something that I shall dub "Reverse Drybrushing". Instead of drybrushing over black, I drybrushed black over the painted areas. Has a similar effect to me, and it doesn't look too bad for one of my first customs.

Still need to add some more details on the Audi's grill and paint in the thin, silver lines that appear on APR-tuned Audi R8s.

Oooh la la, all he needs now are some stripes and a clear coat and you'll have yourself one kickass, shiny ride.

Hmmm, I'll keep an eye on you

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Unfortunately, I've already deemed this one a failure and I plan to get another Sideways sometime in the figure to take another stab at repainting him.

Oh, I know what you mean! I'm currently working on Bonecrusher now and already have Ravage primed and ready with Krylon Fusion from spraying him about a week ago

I saw Spurt Reynolds' custom Sideways in the Radicon section of TFW and I have to say, after seeing his repaint of him, I think I might either buy another Sideways or paint over my current one with Chaos Black so I can take another stab at him.

Heh, I'd rather not mess with Prime, he's pretty good as is for a Leader class figure. I did paint some minor areas on my Prime though that bothered me, such as the red bits on his feet and neck.

Yeah, but then the price would've went up for the toy. Mass producing something like that aint cheap =/

Haha, if Hasbro pulled another Premium stunt like last time, they'll really piss off a lot of their customers.

But why would you get Devastator? He doesn't even transform! I'm definitely buying the Legends class one when it comes out in the US.

the only reason why I was un easy about it was because I didnt think it was movie accuratte and in the movie there not seperate robots

oh, but they are. There are more than one of each type of Constructicon per character. In the movie, the Constructicon designs are just different body types, like a non-Bay movie Seeker's body type. That also explains why you see a Bonecrusher look alike in the sequel.

I know I thoght it was him coming back to life and wed have all the REAL constructicons again XD but hey this movie was voted to have the most mistakes in the world at 40 anbd its growing

soy-monk In reply to tformer0607 [2009-07-04 12:46:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but a lot of those mistakes that are listed are kinda stupid, like when some of the Decepticons talk in space, they technically can't be heard since sound can't travel through an environment devoid of air.

That's scientifically true, but then we wouldn't have dialog.
