Description
guess who is who hahahahaIt is really shame, there's only one DI in "Sherlock". Of course Lestrade is the most popular DI in the Scotland Yard, but I love others, too!!

I agree. I really want to see more DI's in the Sherlock series. Gergson did get a mention in the Richanbach fall but that was it.

Love the facial expressions! (the irritation is very evident on Lestrade's face) while Hopkins is more...cheerful. ^_^

Gregson, Lestrade, and Hopkins, of course - the big three. The fourth in the Canon is Bradstreet, but he never developed into a character like the other three. But why is it that the cleverest Inspector (whose name I can't recall - he appears in "Wisteria Lodge") never merited a second appearance by Doyle. Even Holmes was impressed by him.

You mean inspector Baynes! Yes I remember! He was remarkable. He was the only detective who followed exact same path like Holmes without his guide. I guess Doyle wanted to focus on Holmes.

That is the one. There is also that rival detective "from the Surrey side" in The Adventure of the Retired Colourman" who is as effective as Holmes (and was hired by the family of the missing doctor), and is in at the kill with Holems: the arrest of Josiah Amberley. But he was a private detective.

Yes, he mentioned about his "hated rivals on the Surrey shore". There are a lot of detectives in the novel, but many of them was just one-hit-wonders. I remember some of them didn't have proper name, either. It is a bit disappointing, but, this is Sherlock Holmes not great detectives in Scotland Yard, so..

Yeah there are a number who just show up once or twice. And Doyle certainly was not going to expand his heros beyond his top two. And for that we are grateful.

Oh his first appearance was Black Peter!! There's four stories including Black Peter, which are Golden Pince-Nez, Missing Three-Quarter, and Abbey Grange. But I don't count Missing Three-Quarter, because in that story, Hopkins is just mentioned by client.

Lestrade in the middle, and... Hopkins on the right, so the one on the left has to be Gregson.

Yes, yes, right??? What would Sherlock Holmes be without his little posse in Scotland Yard?
They'll never admit it, but they know it's true! <3

But in the last episode of "Sherlock", Lestrade said something like: "I'm not the only one who consults Sherlock! Gregson-" - "Shut up, Lestrade." So at least they mention that there's others.

Yes, so I heard right after drawing this. And that made me happy. I just wanted to see them in one same scene, together.

Without reading the comments below: I guessing (left to right) Gregson, Lestrade, Hopkins. Oh I was right. YAY! I imagine Gregson to be thicker though. lol.

You nailed it!!! Yeah I did my version of them. Well, I tend to think Gregson as hard boiled detective who might be actually in traditional detective novel. And Stanley.. yes his our beloved Stanley! haha Love your expression
!!

Ha! Yeah! Oh I totally agree, Gregson could look great as hard boiled detective! xD I can't remember though which stories he appears in and the Encyclopaedia Sherlockiana doesn't say much about him neither. :/ But still, I like that image!
And Stanley! Our sweet beloved Stanley! xD And I still haven't drawn him. D:

Gregson was first appeared in A Study in Scarlet, right? And in my opinion, his second significant work in canon was The Greek Interpreter. And as far as I remember, he was described as tall and cold man with fat hand..?
But you must draw out sweet beloved Stanley Hopkins!!! I'll die for see your version. please please please would you do that for me? o..Of course if you don't mind..and have a lots of free time..

ohhh! I thought it could be Bradstreet or something.
I imagine that Hopkins in young and handsome, but I have never pictured him with a mustache

soypepsi In reply to DI-Daydreamer [2012-03-23 15:16:04 +0000 UTC]
HEHE we all imagine him as handsome young man. The reason why I draw him with a mustache is because I inspired by Paget's drawing. He drew Hopkins with black mustache, not like I drew but it was a mustache, in The Black Peter case. Here's the image I found, can you see his mustache? [link] Well, with mustache or no, he is just a sweetheart.
