Description not the best shot i had hoped for but you cant expect too much from a beginner with a cheap camera..haha.
i spent a load of money and time travelling to where i could actually see the eclipse without cloud in the way, which i had for the most of it. there were some amazing colours and most of the time was spent staring with my mouth open.....no drool....i dont think anyway.
i'm glad i got to see the total eclipse but sad i didnt get anything worth putting on here to show people. i'm sure others will have captured it though.

i didn't have a good enough camera. i got some red shots too but they are pretty blurry. it was wonderful to sit and watch it for a few hrs anyway..

ya i agree on the expensive equipment necessary, but to get a good shot of anything moving at night, it is always frustrating, the restraints on equipment is just one of those thing u gotta deal with and when the moon looks good, u gotta just make a mental picture

i was going to call it cyclopse because when you sit back it almost looks like a face with one eye....
i cant seem to get a good moon shot either, it moves so much for the long exposure shots. a more expensive set of equipment may be needed i think, not the cheap camera i have..

thanks for your comment

this shot was funny, it was the last one i took. i was heading back through the pig route back to dunedin in the middle of the night.....almost running out of petrol with no petrol stations anywhere. i pulled over quick for fresh air and to stretch the legs, the camera was flashing at me "flat battery" and i just snapped it. it isn't in focus or anything but i was just playing anyway..
cheers for the comments and support..

awesome shot, it's really hard to get that sort of stuff to work, it's just a physics thing... ie. huge pieces of glass in a funky lens.

where did you drive to? did you go up to oamaru and then out in the country?

silly weather man said it was ment to be cloudy here so i shot to Alexandra. half way there the old man said it was fine in Oamaru and i could have gone there instead.
it was clear when i got there, but there was a hell of a cold wind screaming off the lake...almost lost the tripod down the hill a few times. it stayed covered for a good hour and looked awesome, a big red ball in the middle of a dark sky with no light pollution....but the driving got bit tough...too old for random road trips now hahaha.

watch the sleepy driving thing, as you said, you're not so young any more... you're lucky to have seen this at all, we had one earlier this year and it was cool, i wanted to set up a timelapse to show it over the eclipse time... but then i realised that it would be a waste of time because the lens on my old camera would have just seen a dot go dark and then light again!

be careful of the emoticons you used, the little "rabbit" you shot, is a senior member of dA... so a real person who might not like having his icon shot!

but i get the joke
