"It's definitely an off-shoot of the original idea (i.e., the whole dead thing). The problem I had with it, though, was that featuring only the folks who're dead is a GIGANTIC spoiler to anyone who either hasn't finished Gurren-Lagann or has yet to start it. I'd rather more people be able to enjoy both Double K and the original without fear of going "AAAA GODDAMMIT ALL THESE PEOPLE DIED?! THANKS FOR THE SPOILER WARNING ASSHOLE", y'know?
Besides, featuring the rest of the cast opens up a lot of possibilities to expand the Double K world and whatnot. More roles to fill and all that."
