I know the anime is supposed to be amazing,
But being me, I like paper, so I just started the manga.

yeah, i just buy the dvds. i watched it online at first and then HAD to own it. i love it so much that i bought it when it first came out (subbed) and again when it was released in english. fortunatly they were reasonably priced. 
but if you think the manga is good i'll likely check it out as well. i wanted to anyway.
