Description A super-heavy tank . It has thick armour to the front and sides . The large number of heavy turrets protect it from arial attack. The tank is fully amphibious with a float attached to the exhaust, allowing it to float above the water during river crossings. This was a vital feature as few bridges can support a 1000 ton tank.
The vehicle can also take refuge below water , relying on air tanks or drawing oxygen through the emergency tubing housed along the floated exhaust (which is dissengaged during such an opperation).
Multiple weapons include dozens of machine guns and numerouse multi purpose cannons able to fire AP or high explosive rounds.
A light tank and crewman have been included for scale.

Would it have smaller tanks to gaurd it, because its like an enemy soldier can come and jack it, or put bombs under it.
anyway, Love the tank.

It's armour's too thick for any hand held anti-tank weapons or charges-for the most part(you may notice a few vulnerable spots). Some infantry support'd probably be a good idea though. Aircraft would probably be a bigger threat given its size (hard to hide or relocate quickly).

Giant tank!!! God, i would be afraid to see that coming down the street. (IOM on the other hand "Quick men, jack that tank in the name emporer!") seriousely though, (i spelled seriousely wrong) that is one awesome fighting machine.

beautiful. although i think it would weigh a lot more than 1000 tons...vaguely reminds me of a Baneblade variant from Warhammer 40K.

I think you may be right. Perhaps 10.000 tons would be closer. Those tanks a pretty cool in 40k-although they always seem to get flattened by stompas in our games (not that I mind -as I play Orks in Apoc level games ).

Looks like a French Renault and Hotchkiss on steroids with a good helping of cocaine.

God i love the smooth curved designs of French tanks.

Thanks for the comment I love the French tanks too. They were pretty good for their time as well-at least in terms of armour(not that effectivness is any barrier for liking something as far as I'm concerned-I often find myself drawn to the less succesful vehicles/weapon systems).

Reminds me of "The Ratte" and "The Monster" Tanks that Nazi Germany was producing in 1942. The Ratte was suppose to be 1000 tons in weight and The Monster was suppose to be 1500 tons with shells weighing at 7 tons each. Productions were scrapped, but partial plans still remain on these tanks. Nice designs!

oh and another heads up, The Nazi Germany also attempted to make an underwater/submersable tank. They completed production and discovered an unforseen flaw: The tanks sank into the mud 60% of the time, and would refuse to budge. When this happened, the tank crew had to go through the terrifying ordeal of opening the top hatch, flooding the tank until no more water flowed, and then proceed to swim up through 40-60 ft of water and no drown.

It was a neat, but failed concept- and if a 10-40 ton tank sinks into the mud, I believe this behemoth would simply entrench itself into the ocean floor and become an underwater fortress. A great concept though

That's right-I beleive the 1500 ton vehicle was to be powered by 2 submarine engines. Some people point out that such war machines would be impracticle. On the other hand-GIANT TANKS!!!

For the shock and awe factor, I'm not sure if anything could top that if it was ever seen in combat. Only thing I can think of that could take it out would be bombers. Even then, if there were say, 8 flak/anti-air cannons along the top, the opponent would have to do what the RAF did to the Bismark (one of the most powerful battleships of all time): Launch an entire CAMPAIGN just to sink/destroy the monstrosity!

This gets a 20/10. Fantastic work! And this is coming from another Tank artist

It would have been amazing to see just one! The monster, Flak Panther (Dual 88mm AA guns) and the Landkreuzer E100 tanks would have won the war for them if they could have gotten their luftwaffe back on its feet. Imagine the devastation one shell would have done. Giant tanks indeed
. I modeled the e100 already and probably going to work on the flak panthers. It would take me a while to do a good job on the monster, but it would be awesome to do!

kinda looks like a blend of steampunk and the old us and soviet mega big tanks (that where newer complete do to money...)

you just got a Fav!

Thanks for the fav
The Russians(amongst others) did design and in their case actually manufacture some fairly big multi turret tanks -T35 for instance (although you probably already know all about that).

not due to money - due to thier complete ineffectiveness

this tank would never even move. though i understand that its all just fantasy and it looks cool and so on and so on - it just aint as interesting when its so unrealistic

generalhietala In reply to stranger37 [2009-07-15 18:20:52 +0000 UTC]

yea and that but money was a problem you have 2 understand that since us would probly (if these big tanks actuly workt) just be able 2 buy like 10 of them in the war.

oh and have you seen that old mega soviet tank thing?

its a ship whid tank tracks.....if i got it right it was newer completed.

Miyazaki is certainly an insperation. His work is so great, drawing on historical machines and taking them further. It's been done a lot but I don't think anyone else has ever done it as well as he does.
Thanks for the comparison! Also-where did you get the kit? I've seen photos but I've never seen it for sale anywhere.

I was able to get one at a model contest this past April that was held in the state of Indiana It is a shame that Tasca kit is hard to get

Thanks for the info. Yep-there're a lot of great kits that are very rare, making them hard to get and very expensive. I hope you'll post some photos when you finish the kit.
