Description Alpha Trion said there'd be days like this.

I produced this piece in the year 2007.  I made it public domain and free to download for anyone.  It is now the year 2024, and I continue to see this comic in circulation on various Transformers boards and groups, for which I'm quite flattered. I've taken the opportunity to spruce up my original piece, making if higher-res and easier on the eyes.  I also added my new URL to the page.

So please, continue to share it. Maybe some day, I'll make a new one.

Now when you think about it, why didn't they use a gestalt team with the mini's?

Great job and joke, Neil!

What's funny is that most of the combiners were made up of the smaller toys, and as a result, they were usually no bigger than the regular figures. I remember having Galvatron and Abominus, and they were about the same size.

The smallest Transformers combiner, to my recollection, is Monstructor, who was merged from the Decepticon Monster Pretenders. He couldn't have been more than six inches tall.

And yet they seem so much bigger in the anime and series, hm?

Well yeah. The animators were always somewhat flexible in how they scaled the characters. To make the combining concept mean anything, they had to mess with the scale of the characters. Otherwise, it would have been kind of silly.

True, I always found it funny that -- at certain points -- a couple of the TF's could transform into vehicles big enough to carry their brethren from the field. Like Ratchet did for Ironhide when he got shot in the back by Skywarp.

Well, the combiners are big compared to the pre-movie characters.
