Description For this fish cave I started out with a ceramic spawning ball (designed to be put into aquaria). Covering it with a blend of polymer clay was tricky, as the clay wouldn't stick to the ceramic and my go-to "glue", liquid Fimo, had to be smeared on really thick as the ceramic would soak it up like a sponge (the ceramic isn't glazed). But I managed to in the end.

I made the plants from a leaf/feather cane I had made over a year ago for a different project (which I didn't finish because I didn't really like the results I had so far) and which worked really well for this cave.
Of course I had to add a little dragon, a sea-variety this time, though part of the pose was definitely inspired by a certain pooch I know

To make the piece waterproof I coated it with 2 coats of aquariumsafe epoxy resin (which makes it super shiny on dry land but not so much once submerged, funny that) and waited a good couple of days before I put it in my tank.

I have a RGB led-light for the evenings, which gives me 16 colours to choose from (red, green, blue or a combination of those) and the funny thing is, some of the clay colours light up much brighter under certain colours of the lamp than others and the blue light (and with that the purples) even acts as a black light, making me want to do a fish cave in neon colours next! The purple variety is my favourite as both green and red (though with a pink hue) really light up.

I'm really chuffed with this one

This is such a gorgeous piece! I absolutely love the design of it, and that dragon is simply adorable. The pearlescent ridges along the back are a wonderful touch. You did a terrific job - and I love the way that the clay reacts to the LED lighting! I agree - purple is the best out of these four shades of light.
