Sometimes I see America that way, not the way it was intended to be, or sometimes burnt-out. Yet, I still have faith. I like the grit and hoe the flag really wilts down toward the ash tray, it says a lot to me.

I love my country and support what it STOOD for, but really hate what it's become. Thre are so many reasons that people hate America and people like me have no control over them. You can hate America because I'm not anyone to tell you otherwise, but just remember that where there is evil there is also good.

I have some pretty strong feelings on this piece, but because I'm at a lost on how I should go about articulating them, I'm going to leave it at 'job well done.'

As an American nationalist, I hate this photo.
However, my near "pessimistic" view of how America has begun to lose her shine because of the loss of what made her great connects me to this picture; though that may just be my interpretation. Sometimes I wish her people would remember the ideals of our forefathers (it's a given that some were bad)...

I believed that her [America] "exceptionalism" came from developing a unique ideology, based on liberty, egalitarianism, individualism, populism, and laissez-faire.
Given that one can argue we still have these, that old pride of greatness is something I rarely see these days. Rather, I see people caring less about her well being and even lower sense of Americanism.

It saddens me to see how true this is. I really love this country. It means everything to me. Everyday, I see subtle differences.
No one at my school can say the 'Pledge' properly anymore. They just mumble it and at the same time talk about the next episode of Jersey Shore.

i appreciate your civility in replying to my comment. but the first mistake you made is one i see all too often. you asked "why do you hate us" my answer is i don't. i hate america, like i said in the comment, but never have i said i hate americans.
now to the nitty gritty, why do i hate america? well the short version is i hate america because it is an empire that has invaded my home, oppressed and enslaved my people, destroyed our land, desecrated our sacred places, defiled our grandparents bones, put them on display to be gawked at while they build another damn hotel where those bones where lovingly laid to rest by family, and are continuing to do all of it even as i type this reply. lol i guess it wasnt as short as i intended it to be.
worse yet they are brain washing their people, people like yourself, who have no idea any of it is even happening.
i dont hate americans, i pity them. they are controlled night and day by an empire that doesnt give two peanut decorated shits about them. and the brain washing these americans go through is so effective they proclaim their love for their loveless master.
i hope this answers your question, and i hope you dont think ill of me, but what i say is true and it saddens my heart.

Well, when I said "us" I sort of meant America. But I'm relieved that you don't hate me.
Yes, we're expanding past our limits and we're sticking our noses into what we shouldn't have our noses in. I hate that about America. I hate our government. I'm very anti political. Now when you say that, all I can think of is the Native Americans that we had pushed out when we first arrived here. That sounds terrible, I really feel bad that this is happening. But pity isn't going to do anything. Another hotel? Sounds like Donald Trump lol. Mind telling me where this is? I get a vibe that it's Africa, but I'm not sure. I don't keep up with news that much, but not because I think that shit like American Idol is more important.
I don't believe shit from the government anymore. They're built up on lies. They keep so many secrets from us that it's disgusting. Our government is most certainly corrupt.
Here's the thing; we CHOOSE our empire. It's our own fault if we elect the wrong people. We don't need pity. If we get unhappy enough, we will begin to protest. I'm very satisfied with my rights to freedom right now. I mean, we are VERY flexible. We have the KKK running around lynching black people here. (They had a meeting in front of my school, haha.) So I don't proclaim my love to my masters, but to everything else. Have you ever heard the phrase of, "Only in America?" It makes me so proud to have an escalator for six stairs.. x3
You definitely answered it. I appreciate you not flaming my country, as well. It hurts when someone says, "I hate America" because truly, I feel that America is amazing. I love this country. Anyone should think that their homeland is the greatest. From our founding fathers, our intentions were beautiful, but we drifted. We're going downhill. But I'll be with America until the very end.

Hawai'i, this is happening in Hawai'i right now. and countless other places in the world. iraq has already been invaded for their oil. america has puppet regimes all over the world.
but yes i dont hate americans, but i HATE america, i hate everything about america. i only pray i am alive still when america falls and is finally destroyed. its not as far off as people think it might be. americas infrastructure is in disarray, this is causing them to fall behind drastically in the world market, their economy is suffering for it. no changes are being made to improve this because people in charge only ever do whats best for themselves and worship instant gratification.
im just sad that more than half the worlds total population will all have to die for what the western culture has done to the world. once the oil is gone around 90% of the earths people will die in probably 1 or 2 generations.

Hawaii? Wait, Hawaii is America.. no..? God I'm stupid. Unless Hawai'i is a different nation.... -google searches-
Yea, so you are an American yourself, no?
Like I said, I absolutely love America, no matter what the hell happens to it. I can't think of a better nation. But that's only because I grew up in it, and I came to admire the country that raised me with so much care. Our economy IS suffering, like hell. When I visit Chicago, there are a bunch of homeless beggars wrapped up in cloth during the killer winters. It truly is heartless of what our authorities are doing. But, shit happens. What I can't stand is when other people other than Americans get hurt. It's absolutely unfair.
Lol it's not culture at all. I don't know what the fuck my country is anymore. It's changed beyond recognition. I always wish that I was born a little earlier than I was so it would still be a time of moral. But some people are simply afraid of our "Western Culture" and hate us for it. Funny, really.
Once we run out of oil, it's most likely over for all of us. It'll go back to the archaic times. But I'd rather not look to that. I rather imagine a wonderful future for America, and how I can help my country to work for that goal. It's not too late to fix this.

I realize that there are lies and secrets to our government. It's bogus really. I don't trust the government much, anymore.... I don't know what to say. It's definitely not a good enough reason to stop loving my country. Well, the truth will come out some day. And when the power of love prevails of the love of power, peace will finally come. Like there's hula dancing and stuff... so you don't hula dance? Well I mean, as a festivity or something at least.
Other than that, we don't learn much of your culture besides how your island was created (volcano eruption etc.) and... yea.
It's not always propaganda. You have that programmed in your head that there is absolutely no honesty in our country, but that's not true.

lol when i see other wise i will be inclined to believe you. but does it not make you wonder WHY you dont know much about Hawai'i. your perception of Hawai'i, your perception of reality its self was created by what you have been brought up with. before you started talking to me you perception of reality in Hawai'i was that it is a state in america with beautiful vacation spots and happy dancing Hawaiian people. this is because that is exactly what your government wants you to believe, and so they have indoctrinated you to believe it, and they have succeeded, as they usually do.
i cant remember a time in all of americas history where they told you people the truth. honestly your perception of the entire world is a huge sham, a lie.

Don't take offense, but I actually imagined Hawaii as a volcanic island that I seemed isolated in which I really didn't want to visit. e__e I mean, yes, I guess it's a pretty cool vacation spot, but I though of it as more of a fishing area.
The government did not tell me this though. The only thing they told me about Hawaii recently was the Tsunami that hit Hawaii weeks ago.
I don't know why you insist so badly that America is a lie, but it's your opinion. Really, we do get facts. Yes, things are hidden from us (ex: Manhatten Project) and we are quite oblivious of what our country is really doing, but for one, it's not our fault, and two, we still have minds of our own. We aren't chess pieces for our government. The government feels that way about us, though. Taxing, military, it's horrible. Not to mention our debt. BUT, at the same time, we are the best (accordingly) nation in the world. It's not going to be like this forever, America will crumble, and Russia, China, one of those countries will overcome... *realizes I'm off topic*
Like I said, the truth will come out. I don't know how many times I can repeat that.
And like I also said, if Hawaii is not a state, then Obama cannot be our president, which he is. He is from Hawaii, you cannot be president if you are not a U.S. Citizen, so therefore, we have an invalid president. I don't think our Congress is THAT idiotic.. but still idiotic.

...? o___o dude, my freaking parents think that Hawaii is a part of America... 50 states, and Hawaii is one of them... huh!? Then there's only 49 states, but our flag has 50 stars..
I hate being ignorant. I really do. I want to surpass the stereotype for Americans, but it never seems like I can. I'm so sorry if I offended you. I really am.
But seriously, I'm POSITIVE Hawaii is a state in the U.S.
It's what it started out as though. We're expected to be hardworking, patriotic, open minded people. We are less now than we used to be. Think during WWII. America was number one industrial superpower. Now, although we specialize in food hehe, China does most of the work for us. We sort of sit around and don't do much manufacturing.
Here's what I'm trying to say; America has changed for the worse.
Maybe it wasn't so gorgeous back then as well, but it isn't as gorgeous now. Starting with you actually needed TALENT to be a musician back then. (sorry, just a personal opinion springing up there.)

no Hawai'i is not a state, it is an occupied and oppressed nation. in fact to my knowledge Alaska isnt a state either. i will try to explain it briefly.
in order to make a state a statehood vote must be held. naturally there are very strict guidelines and formats for such an important process. well this process of voting for statehood never took place in Hawai'i. therefore there is no state.

It's funny... I was taking a break from writing a paper for my American History/ American Literature class, so I typed America into the search bar, and I stumbled upon this. hehe.
But I do think this is a very powerful shot. It can also be seen so many ways. The way I kinda see it is that, cigarettes corrupt your health, right? And this country is a far cry from what it used to be, back when we were just becoming a country. I think the government has gotten mighty big, which makes sense because the country has become mighty big, and I think the government has let the power America has get to their heads. So here cigarettes = power, and health = our country/ government.
I will be the first to tell you how amazing America is, and that it's the best country in the whole wide universe. We do have people killing and dying to be here, after all. And we have people dying over seas to protect the freedom that it seems so many Americans are taking advantage of. If we are going to be willing to throw that all away to stay "powerful" then, are we really the America the founding fathers wanted us to be?
Wonderful shot, instant fave!
