TL;DR BUT PLEASE READ.

*kisukaite was doing it, and I got inspired to try xD First of all, HOLY SHIT OKAY THE QUALITY IS SOOO FAR. The picture from 2003 was the first picture I ever posted on DA, on my old account. At that time I was fresh from two weeks of life-drawing classes and thought this picture was one of my better ones that time. Seriously, how could I have ever thought I was any good that time???? Wow okay.

Some info about technique, then and now:
[2003] Sketched then retraced in pencil onto another paper with a lightbox. I did this so I'd have a perfectly clean finished product on paper that wasn't too damaged by erasing etc.
[2008] Full sketch in Photoshop using 5px hard round default brush set to 60% opacity. I dont ink so much anymore, I just sort of work on the lines, draw-erase-draw-erase, until I'm satisfied with them, and above is what a finished sketch looks like for me. The opacity helps with making it feel more natural when I build up the lines.

Kids, this is proof that years of pain and non-stop drawing will make you better. I'm still not that good yet even at this point, and I'm still practicing. The practice better be the right kind of practice, or you'll be stuck drawing the same shitty things for years to come. Don't be afraid to take crit too, my mates chewed me alive in those early years and it really helped. I almost gave up but well, today I realized it'd be a waste to. KEEP DRAWING!
