Description
The original plan was just the top two designs, a fun little experiment with This adorable base by Renciel . But then I got attached to #1, and decided to keep her, and figured, "You know what? I'm going to make another so I'm not just selling one." And then the inspiration struck. I figured, "Well, why don't I make another. I'm feeling quite fine for a little, despite what's been happening lately." And now there's five.Do you ever get inspired by a base to just.. experiment, and design different? I'm quite fond of these ones right now.
Anyways, skipping past that section of the recipe page that nobody reads!

#1 - The Likeness of Spring and Fall - blaizesparks
Today I took Izzy and Sparty out into the woods after school, just to have a nice walk. The snow's all but gone with this recent thaw, and it's just under 60 degrees outside. I walked on the path that my family carved out of the wilderness a few years ago; meanwhile, the dogs took to surveying the area just around me. I don't have to worry about leashing them, since it's our property and they're rather familiar with it - and they know to stay nearby. It's not difficult to tell when they're close because there's an eternal carpet of dead leaves on the ground. As I walked, I couldn't help but think how this season (still winter and barely spring and likely to revert back to the cold) was so much like fall. I mean, the temperatures are lukewarm and bearable, but definitely subject to change based on the weather, and everyone at school hates themselves. The sun's just there, but it's sometimes cloudy, and a rainy day is often and expected. You can't really go swimming or sledding, as those are the extremes of the year, but it's just comfortable.
#2 - The Maple Leaf on the Syrup Bottle - velvet-coyote
Do you remember the Sunday mornings, when you woke up late and the wild night before hasn't come back to you yet? When everything is kind of calm, and okay, and almost pure-like? You lay in your bed for a little while longer, before someone calls you downstairs for breakfast. As you sit up in your bed, you can smell the faint yet tantalizing aroma of something that smells like a good meal. You open your door and you hesitate at the top of the stairs, allowing yourself to adjust to standing up because you have an iron deficiency. When you come downstairs, there's french toast, and scrambled eggs, and a lightly sweating plastic bottle of "Simply Orange" on the kitchen counter. The one who's prepared the meal invites you over to take your share, and you sit down on a stool before digging in. The other person offers you the maple syrup, and you accept this offer with a smile and hopefully a vocal "thank you." "Don't use too much," they warn lightly. You pour a little onto your french toast, and set the bottle down in front of you. You study its simple pattern - maybe it's a see-through glass, or maybe it's more of a dull-colored jug with a maple leaf on it.
#3 - The Ever-near Cold - SpeedyFoxDraws
Despite how things are looking up lately, I still can't shake the feeling that we've not seen the end of winter yet. Honestly, this is the midwest and everyone's pretty skeptical of this 50 degree weather we've been getting at the beginning of March. We have little jokes about our situations at the end of winter and the beginning of spring. "What a beautiful winter we're having this spring," and "Fool's Spring" are some of these. Well, at least we don't get hurricanes or earthquakes. And most winters around here are pretty moderate, and don't usually drop below -10 degrees. Some years are a little different, but we always hope for more mild winters. I'd love to be as optimistic as I used to be about how "Spring is finally here!" but now I'm slightly more educated, with just a little more information in my brain over the years. Others and I know that we'll be plunged into a second winter, and then a third winter before tornado season and basements flooding.
#4 - April Showers bring May Flowers... - gensugar
...And Mayflowers bring smallpox. Just kidding, I'm not going to write such a depressing thing for a vibrantly-colored cat. What I will ramble on about is how I long to see natural growing flowers again - when spring finally comes. Oh, you should see the wildflowers in the woods, when they come out. They bloom for about two weeks, up on the northern ridge on the property, just before the alfalfa field. Walking up along that path during that time is a magical experience. Several years now, I've witnessed these in bloom, and they amaze me just as much every time. Many of them are simple white flowers, but there are variants in yellow and purple. Others come out a fuchsia color, while there are green ones as well. Now, these aren't voluminous, commercial flowers that you can buy at a store, and to others they may seem dull, but they're my favorite flowers to experience. If only I actually knew the real names of these!
#5 - What are the Salmon doing right now? - Lapisium
They say that the salmon spawn around November to February, and the fishing season is May to October-ish. Well, it's March right now - so what are they all doing? I'd like to think that they're all simple, brainless food-fish, but there has to be something that they do in these two months of free-time. Do they just live, just exist as a salmon? They say that fish can get depressed, so conversely, they can be happy too, right? I know that humanity is always doing something - always busy, always with some sort of schedule. There's always something new - our society is constantly changing - so what about the fish? Is it a bitter existence, not knowing of puppies or hiking trips or YouTube? Or do they live in blissful unknowing - just going with the flow and living by impulse? I cannot imagine being a salmon - nor a salmon could imagine being me.
#6 - Finding it Hard to Believe we're in Heaven - DaisyDragonSiren
While I was driving home from school today, I was able to roll down my windows and just experience. It was a little windy, but I strictly keep my car clean so I didn't have to worry of anything flying out of it. The weather was warm and comfy. I had my radio on, and as I crossed the train tracks to leave my school's town, "Heaven" by Bryan Adams started to play. And I quietly listened to this song as I drove - I'm no stranger to the song, but I just hadn't heard it in a while. It made me think back to a little advertisement that I'd hear on another radio station when I was little, and they'd say something about money and then play fragments of a bunch of different songs (all of the fragments a second or two and containing the word "heaven.") and it just felt nice. I was wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt, but I was not cold because the sun was shining and there were few clouds in the sky. I was alert as I drove, but I sponged in and made sense of the lyrics of the song, and how nice its melody sounded. And you know what? I'm going to add that to my playlist.
I have no idea why I decided to type out those paragraphs for each adopt, but I suppose just a sentence wasn't enough for a theme.
