Allow me to explain from my point of view.

While it's hard to truly understand why people have this fetish, i can say that there are many factors that one was exposed to in order to develop it.
What i mean is this: say you watching cartoons and a common theme you see is inflation, whether it be for comic relief or something else. The more you see and are exposed to it, the more you some to enjoy it.

Again, it may be the best of explainations but it's the best that can be given.
Think also like this: why do you like say... drawing sonic art as an example. For me, it's cause I find the style enjoyable, colorful, overall fun to play with. While i can draw in other styles, in reality drawing humans doesn't give too much freedom to have radical design choices like say a sonic character.

Hope that clears up a few things.
So tl;dr they like it
